Camarillo Springs Golf Course
About
Situated at the base of the Conejo Mountain, Camarillo Springs Golf Course was carefully carved from the mountain's towering rock formations but it gets its name from the scenic water features that can be found throughout. Naturally, water is the primary challenge on this course, coming into play on eleven holes. There are also long par 3s that will require a sharp iron game. The course offers a fair test of your skills but the elevation changes are modest and the player-friendly fairways are wide and forgiving, which make the course more accessible to beginners. The golf course has a memorable start with a par-4 second hole, which is a tricky dogleg left from an elevated tee that features one of the best views on the course. The consistently good course conditions and the affordable rates have garnered Camarillo Springs a strong following among local golfers.

Course is in rough shape...
To be extremely fair, the greens are in very good condition... however the rest of the couse, not the case. The tee boxes, fairways and rough need serious attention. The layout of the course has some great potential, some fun holes out there. Probably won't return until they invest some time and money to take better care of the course.
not too shabby
....but not bang for your buck surprising. Played when it was cloudy and sprinkling, which was great weather to golf in, but the course was still dealing the crush of the drought. So, not really lush, but the greens were nice.
Staff is amicable.
Ka-Kill-Ya Grass
Fairway cut with lots of Ka-Killa-Ya grass in the rough. Sometimes it will not allow the ball to compress or close the club face. Most times the grass is burnt out so it is not a problem. But a lot of fairways needs some TLC. Same grass is around the greens so ball does not bounce forwards. Rather ball bounces up and not onto the green. Okay to put on though. Course was busy for a 11AM tee time on a Friday.
Fairly easy track, too much crabgrass
The good: light play on a Friday. Greens are soft, well-watered, and in great shape (a wee bit slow)
The not-so-good: To say this course has a crabgrass problem would be an understatement. Aside from the greens, the rest of the course (including tee boxes) is one giant field of crabgrass. I was approaching most greens from 100 to 150 yards out and had to play shots of my back foot because you couldn't swing through a divot in the fairway. Not cool. Won't be back.
Needs a serious overhaul!
It appeared the owners are "milking" the course. Conditions, other than the greens were not up to par. (Pun intended.") I think only a major reconditioning can bring the course up to equal comparably priced courses in the area.
the atmophere was beautiful
The empoyees were super nice and curdious . the professional staff and respectfullness added a touch of class. I enjoyed playing there and I will be back.
Perfect Day, but course could present better.
It was perfect golf day - the weather was GREAT, I was pared up with a nice group, I was golfing and the pace of play was excellent for a midweek afternoon..
The fairways and greens were OK, but this course could present better: 1) Mowing: All the tee boxes and the range (every golfer goes to those places) could be mowed closer to the ground, 2) the cart path should be edged, 3) The mats at the range need to be replaced, 4) Drainage in some bunkers repaired (While we are in a drought there was water / mud in some bunkers - casual water - take a drop), and 5) While the bunker sand was better than in past years it could still be improved. These areas show neglect, not the staff's pride in the course.
Has the course improved over the years? Yes. 1) GPS on the carts is a nice addition, 2) the sand in the bunkers has improved (Fortunately, I was not in many bunkers), and 3) The fairways are mowed providing some distinction / differentiation from the rough. (Note: the rough was very playable.)
Would I play there again? Yes, for the Golf Now price, but not the course's weekend price.
Getting better and more challenging
They have re-designed the greens to be more challenging, and the course is starting to get better manicured. It is a joy to play mid-day Monday!
Stupid tourneys
I don't think I will go back n play that course again. I just lives 5 minutes away from the course. It took us almost 3.5 hrs just to played front 9, so we just quit after 12. Can you guys do something for me. I'm a good customer to golfnow since day one. I hope to hear good news from you guys. Thanks.
Nice neighborhood course
I just began playing again after a decades long break and found this course to be just right for beginning to intermediate players, however, the course can easily be made tougher by hitting from the more distant black tees. Strong ocean breezes made afternoon play challenging as did the unkempt state of the course, mowed grass on fairways, muddy bunkers, etc. and lightning fast greens. Overall a fun round, I just wish I hadn't been paired with someone playing like he was double parked. He left after 14 holes and 50 phone calls and the finishing holes were infinitely more enjoyable for our remaining two with the next group easily 2 or 3 holes behind us. A fun round overall with great value....$39 green fee!
A beautiful course
The staff is friendly, considerate and want you to enjoy your golfing experience. The course is in fair shape with its immediate surroundings being spectacular. I will play there again
Sunday going no where
There were no marshals visible, play slowed down to a crawl. In fairness, the food server quit that day so the cafe was swamped.
Course was in great shape
Really enjoyed my round the staff was great. The greens were good the fairways could of been cut a little closer I hit some drive's down the middle my ball was lying in a patch of grass. Early morning tee time was perfect pace of play was great they didn't put groups on top of each other.
Beautiful view
The course is a decent layout and fair test. Sadly, the fairway conditions were poor; lots of bare spots but not bad for this time of year. Greens were somewhat slow but interesting undulations make for difficult putting. The course set against the mountains so views are spectacular, but due to the location, high winds are common—during my round they were 20-30 mph plus... with many holes playing directly into pervading wind, making scoring difficult. Some holes are "mickey mouse", some are strong holes. Lots of par 3s.
Enjoyed Camarillo Springs
First time at this course and enjoyed it. Played on a Saturday morning and the pace of play was 4 hours 2o minutes, which is acceptable. I thought the layout was fun and the fairways were in great condition. Only two complaints i had were the greens were slow and most of the tee boxes were not flat, probably for drainage reasons. Overall i thought it was a very good value and i will be back.
Great value, nice mountain setting
Great views. Great course, especially for the price. Staff was very accommodating. Just fun!
Challenge yourself
This can be one of the more challenging & fun courses in the area. Walk it & play from the black tees (the marshal advises 5 handicap or better). This way you get to huff & puff to the hidden back tee boxes that have the terrific elevation changes & great scenery. Plus, it forces you to both hit long & think about your shots. If the wind is up, as it was for me, then you'll feel like toast (2 club wind that day - 25+ MPH - requiring extra finesse for the frequent directional changes). Playing the course this way, all of the physical & mental strains come into play to test your game. It's a completely different course & you'll feel like you really get your money's worth. Then when you scamper back to other courses in the area that are in better shape & you're riding around in a cart, you'll laugh when you hear others complain about "how tough" it is, knowing what a challenging golf experience you had.
Average
Extremely slow playwrs ahead of us obnoxious and impatient players behind. I was struck by a line drive from the players teeing off with my group still well within range.
