Yall gotta stop lying on these reviews

I tell myself every time I’ve come here that I’m not coming back. Then about 6 months go by and I see a good deal on GolfNow and I pull the trigger. That’s my fault though.

So, if you’ve never played golf before and don’t want to spend any money for a tee time book one at this course. If you are anywhere below a 20+ handicap go to three ridges, it’s a tiny bit more expensive but a great course.

The problems: 1. the ground is a rock, not hard as a rock, but a literal rock. There are no soft spots on fairways or tee boxes that I saw. 2. All of the greens have crabgrass on them, they’ve cut it down but it’s basically always a punched green type feel. 3. Pace of play. I am not a golf snob that says you have to be on time for each hole, but it took me 3 hours to play 11 holes today before I called it.

The staff was very friendly

The club house was well stocked with golf balls and tees. The man behind the counter was friendly.

The club house has a great selection of reasonably priced sandwiched, beverages, chips, crackers and candy. The lady that serves the food was efficient and friendly.

The tees, fairways and greens are well taken

Great Course for the Casual Golfer

This course has a great mix of long par 5’s and deceiving par 3’s. Great course for the casual golfer looking for a bang for your buck course. The conditions are a bit rocky and the ground plays hard.

Ground so hard tees couldn't be used in some tee boxes. No hole diagrams on scorecard or tee box meant some unpleasant surprises for players new to the course.

Still a decent coiese, especially for the price. Not my new favorite in the area but will happily play again.

Maintenance

As I understand, both Knox Municipal and Three Ridges are run by Knox County. Why is there such a difference in quality? Three Ridges is top-notch while Knox Municipal is a dump be comparison.

Solid Place to play

Don' be taken aback by the shabby parking lot and the pathways to the club house broken pavement.

This is a very fun and pretty setting to 'Golf your Ball'.

Speaking of Golf balls take a few extra. LOL! you will actually find a few. We did and now we get to try out some we hadn't played before.

The club house cafe has great sandwiches and one of the most pleasant attendants you can meet.

There is a fairway or 2 that is hard to hold a ball on. The 9th hole green is over water seriously uphill. As a reasonably experienced but aging golfer it was hard to get the ball both high enough and long enough to reach the green. Not much difference between the Gold and Red Tees.

You won't be sorry you played. I had one breakfast ball and a penalty stoke on 9 and shot 84 from the Red tees. Wife shot 87.

Nice layout and very enjoyable. The tee boxes could use some tlc but the greens were in good shape. I’d play here again

Typical Atrocious Knoxville Municipal Course

Course is very poorly maintained. Drainage is atrocious. Sadly, if you hit the fairway, they are so poorly maintained that you have 75% chance the ball will hit something and bounce somewhere unexpected. On some of the fairways, they are so tilted that you cannot keep the ball from rolling off the fairway and the surface is akin to concrete. There are cases where you are better hitting from the trees and rough than hitting from the fairways. You'll hit a ball on the fairway and it will simply disappear into a badly maintenanced trough or undrained portion. I now understand why a recent independent audit that Knoxville commissioned actually recommended closing the course and selling off for housing.
