About
Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is the top municipal course in the state and it is also ranked as one of the top 20 in the nation. Overlooking the Cuyahoga River Valley, the course is known for its scenery almost as much as its challenging layout. It has a traditional design with a classic "out-and-in" routing, with the incoming holes playing uphill into the wind, making them seem much longer than the indicated yardage. Golfers might be taken aback by the punishing nature of the golf course. There are 58 bunkers strategically placed around the tough greens, which comprise the main challenges of the course. Get ready to be quickly introduced to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course's formidability with the lengthy second hole, a par 3 that will test even the longest hitters.

Golfer Reviews
way too long to play.
no one seened to care a bout holding up the groups behind them. They continued to look for balls. fussed around on course etc. Would not go back
Superb Conditions
Challenging course in great condition that will test your skills. Sloped greens add to challenge.
Greens are fast and slow
We played as a foursome and it took 5 hours and 10 minutes to play. While not blaming the course, I have to say they could have informed the foursome in front of us to speed it up, you would have thought these guys were playing for a million dollars. The greens were quite fast going down hill and the opposite going up hill. It always seemed that you were putting against the grain every time going up hill. The ruff was heavy in spots and the sand traps were smooth and well maintained. The finishing holes were very tough to play as they were into the setting sun, bad design by the architect. Overall I would play there again with an earlier tee time.
Breath taking View Makes Up for Missed Putts
What a view!! From the very first tee and though out the round, you'll find yourself (especially on a clear day) saying exactly that. Overlooking the valley and clear into Pennsylvania (seems like) this layout is simply breathtaking.
With the wide open fairways, keeping the ball in play is not necessarily a tough thing to do, but the sloped greens and the length makes up for that. If you are a long ball hitter, reaching the green in regulation will be easy, but for average length hitters, don't be disappointed to get to many of the par 4 holes in 3 shots.
Approaching the green, be certain to keep your ball below the hole. The greens are fast and putting down hill will definitely guarantee at least 3 putts. Fairways are plush and well maintained and most of the par 3's will punish you if you miss the green on one side or the other.
This is one of my favorites.
Course is in great condition
The course was in fantastic condition and the greens were fast and true. The pace of play was a bit slow as was the pro shop / snack bar staff. Over all this is a great course and good value! Nice practice facilities too!
Extremely Rude Staff
I decided to try this course on recommendation from a fellow golfer. My tee time was for around 2 on a Saturday, so I was expecting slow play. I was not, however, expecting the absolutely abysmal customer service from the starters; specifically from an older man with a name tag reading "John J." After finishing the front 9 I went into the clubhouse for some refreshments... figuring that the back 9 starter had enough common sense to let other groups play through me while I was inside. To my, and many other golfer's dismay, this was not the case. After about 5 minutes, John came looking for me in the club house and began harassing me. He barked that golfer's have 5 minutes to make the turn and made some other comments that are inappropriate to post online. I calmly explained that I was unaware if this (unusual) convention at this course and that I would be ok with people playing through me and rejoining when there was an opening. John did not accept this and continued to make other groups wait for me. I hurried out to the tee as fast as I could... yet even while I was getting my driver and preparing to hit... John CONTINUED his harassment. This behavior was completely unacceptable in any situation; but is even worse when directed toward a paying customer. I filed a complaint with the course manager, yet have received no response. Though the actual course was challenging and moderately-well maintained, I strongly recommend that anyone looking for a pleasant experience take their business elsewhere.
Get Ready to Putt
Fairways and rough were near perfect conditions. We were surprised at the speed and amount of break from above the hole on many greens. We dropped a ball on one green and it rolled more than 30 feet down hill.
Course was great
The courSe was in the best shape I've seen this year at any metro park course pace was moderate to slower this evening but great value would go agsin
Classic Stanley Thompson design
This course is a great value. Classic old style course. Great condition. Tough tough greens. Highly recommended course. A must play if in the area.
Awesome!
Exceptional track, every hole is a statement of beauty and wonder. Outstanding condition over all. Beyond lighting quick greens, all kinds of slope and challenges. A true test of golf...a must play course!
Beautiful course, great staff
First time playing this course and I did not expect much from a Metroparks course. I was blown away at how nice it was--the greens were beautiful and it was run like a well-oiled machine! The staff was extremely friendly and the starter took the time to explain the course and give tips on each whole. We didn't have people riding us and the pace was perfect. Beautiful course, great staff-we WILL be back!
Sleepy Hollow
A great course. If you live or are visiting Northern Ohio, this course is a must. Good driving range, chipping / putting green & some amazing holes. Well worth full price .. a steal at Golfnow.com
Beautiful course.
Challenging course but very fun to play. Don't get upset with 3- putts.
sleepy hollow
This was my first time playing the course. I found the $50.00 green fee way over priced for the quality of the course. Greens were slow and bumpy. Construction was going on on a couple of the holes with equipment coming into play around the green on one hole in particular. If the course is going to charge full fair, the course should be in best condition. Boulder Creek and Swamill are much better values.
still one of my favorites
Course was in great shape and further improvements were being made. I am amazed at the quality of Sleepy Holllow considering that it is a metrooparks course. Keep up the good work!
“New Favorite Course"
Two of my foursome declared Sleepy Hollow their “New Favorite Course.” I can’t argue. Great course in very good shape. (They’re doing some work on it but that’s not a bother.) Greens are challenging.
Only downside is the carts are gas powered and not very good.
Good "Go To" Course but Employee's are not Friendly.
This is about the 5th or 6th time that I have played this course. Course was in great shape despite all of the rain we have had lately.
All 5 or 6 times we have played this course we were greeted and exited by "Grumpy Old Men". I don't know where the course hires their employees, however each time we play there we are made to feel that we should be lucky to play there versus they should be lucky to have us golfers.
Please work on your customer service.
Chris
Beautiful metropark course
Excellent layout, course was in good condition even though the back nine was undergoing some construction. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in excellent condition. I would recommended this course to any mid handicap or better golfer because this track can be fairly difficult for beginners.
This is an edit to my previous review:
The complaint that I filed has been reviewed and I have received a response. John Fiander, the course manager, was the individual who responded. His response was VERY professional and greatly appreciated. He talked to the starter and we have come to a resolution.
If I knew how to update my rating on this site (I am still searching), I would revise it to 3/5. And would revise it further upon playing the course again.
