Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
About
Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is the top municipal course in the state and it is also ranked as one of the top 20 in the nation. Overlooking the Cuyahoga River Valley, the course is known for its scenery almost as much as its challenging layout. It has a traditional design with a classic "out-and-in" routing, with the incoming holes playing uphill into the wind, making them seem much longer than the indicated yardage. Golfers might be taken aback by the punishing nature of the golf course. There are 58 bunkers strategically placed around the tough greens, which comprise the main challenges of the course. Get ready to be quickly introduced to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course's formidability with the lengthy second hole, a par 3 that will test even the longest hitters.

Greatly disappointed
Sleepy Hollow, Brecksville, OH is one of my favorite golf courses for the challenge and the condition of the course. But on Saturday, October 12, 2013 my playing partner and I were very disappointed. An 11:42 tee time became a start at 12 noon. OK - it's mid day on a beautiful Fall Saturday. Not a big problem. Three (3) hours later we finished the 9th hole. A ranger was on the course but was totally ineffective at improving the pace of play. A particularly slow group that was two groups ahead became very verbal with the ranger and yet was allowed to continue playing at their snail's pace. We opted for a rain check at the turn rather than risking a 6 hour round.
Excellent Course
This has become one of my favorite courses!!! Metro Parks does an excellent job with its courses.
Long with lots of slope
The greens are not terribly fast in and of themselves, but the undulating and often steep slope on most greens make it a challenge. Easily the hardest worst putting I've seen this year.
Nice shape.
Very nice course. Pace was so slow for a weekday. 5 + hrs!
Check to make sure purchase is 18 holes, bring confirmation
We bought a hot fare to play this course I have never been to, and immediately got sent to the back 9 to start since there was an outing going on. We were paired with another twosome which included a very angry guy who threw a club about 70 yards at one point that hit his golf cart after hitting a bad shot, but overall I enjoyed the challenge here with well placed sand and some blind looks to the green.
The only negative is that we bought a hot fare for 72% off for 18, and I knew this time of year we would probably play 13-14 before dark. The course wanted us back in after 9, and when I asked about our reservation being for 18 they informed me that there is a glitch and the reservation should have been for 9 and that any times after 4 pm are 9 holes. The employee was still friendly and provided a voucher to return to play the other 9, so overall I got a great value.
Super Course
This course gives you a feel of a country club. It requires shot making both to the fairway and especially to the green. It rewards risk but it also punishes you as well. It's a fairly long course but can be managed even if you're not a longer hitter.
Could have played in less time, however, there were a senior foursome that admitted they had a few prior to teeing off...
Make a tee time because its not a secret that this course is a great public course
Severe, undulating greens!!
Let's start with the greens. Sleepy Hollow does not have quick greens. If they did, I would still be putting on the 18th hole. The greens were actually quite slow, yet the putt I tapped going down the hill on 18 still managed to roll off the front of the green. The course is nicely maintained and has made a great turn around from years ago when it had fallen by the wayside. Although Sleepy Hollow is a well manicured course with some very tough holes, and severely sloped greens, I don't think it is worth of the high rankings it has been receiving in major golf publications. The fairways are well maintained, but could be cut much lower, and the rough is very patchy. Tee boxed are maintained, but yet again could be mowed lower, especially the par 3's. Not a bad course, be cautious as to how much you spend. Don't let high rankings fool you into paying more than it's worth.
Best In Ohio
This golf course is gorgeous. Every hole offers a challenge but gives well struck shots birdie possibilities. Played from the tips and was impressed with the par 3 second hole. 235 yards - a monster to say the least. Got an eagle on the downhill par 5 hole number one then went bogey bogey bogey and only struck one shot badly. Very subtle breaks and speed on the greens.
I could play this course day in and day out and not tire of it. It is that good.
great classic golf course
Had an 8 o'clock tee time. Play was fast. There was a lot of twosomes on the course and played 18 in just over 3 hours. This course just has that classic feel that older golf course should have. As the sign says when you walk in the clubhouse it has rated the best muni golf course in Ohio and one of the top in the country.
The course was in good shape. The bunkers were in great shape and were all fresh. This is a great golf course. Lots of challenges and a whole lot of fun to play. I will be back to play here again for sure.
excellent course /staff AWFUL
1) GolfNow value challenged at pro shop when we checked in
2) Despite paying $72.00 for my wife and i, the concession stand at the pro shop would not give us a cup with a lid because "we did not buy something"
3) tee times running late; so we arrive at 1st tee at our appointed time, only to have starter to give our time away. We waited as TIME before us was 10-15 minutes late to tee off because they were running late
4) played front 9 in 2 hours 5 minutes as a foursome with a delightful father + grown son. As a two some we played back nine in close to 3 hours, 4 some ahead would not acknowledge our presence, no rangers on course. Just rude.
Metroparks Course Offering Many Challenges
I haven't played Sleepy Hollow in about 4 years. The course is in excellent shape considering it's a public course. There are several risk/reward holes. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The greens here are very tricky with some having multiple breaks and fast downhill putts. A very nice layout with golf holes that offer a little bit of everything to consider when making your shot. It's a definite play for the avid golfer.
Tons of fun
Very nice course. It was kind of wet, but its been raining a lot lately. Which made 18 on a cart go a lot slower. The course is in very good shape though. Its pretty hilly with some blind shots. The back 9 I found to be more challenging. Bring your A game.
wel maintained course
Very scenic and hilly . some hole are very challenging and interesting
GREAT CONDITIONS - bunkers and greens in great shape
never seen sleepy in better shape - just make sure you book your tee time in the early morning due to pace of play challenges mid day
Nice Metro Parks course
great course - pace was extremely slow
Perhaps it was due to tough pin placements and fast greens - had to rolling at least 11 or 12 after a heavy rain, could only imagine what they would be on a dry week.
A real treat
What a great layout and challenging course. The greens were not that fast but putted very true. The practice green was way faster. We drove an hour to play here and was well worth the drive. The back 9 has to be one of the nicest I have ever played in Ohio. Just awesome. You have to try this Ohio matured Donald Ross golf Course.
Good greens, nice layout
A few crazy holes where 1st time players will struggle to understand, but all in all a nice test of golf. Staff was very friendly and cordial.
Bring Your "A" Game
A great course tucked into the Cleveland Park system. You have to keep the ball below the hole on the greens or you face almost impossible putts. Some will stop off the greens. Layout is fair and challenging. It is a course that should be high on your list to play in Northeast Ohio. A nice classic tree-lined gem!
A wonderful course
The course is in an excellent shape. The greens are tough.
