About
Grand Oaks Golf Club enjoys a peaceful, tranquil setting among century-old oak trees and an abundance of wildlife. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with tree-lined fairways and small greens that will test your accuracy. It may have a traditional design but there is still some bite to this round. There are several strategically placed bunkers that lurk greenside to challenge you even further. Two meandering creeks weave along the golf course as well, coming into play on a few holes. The layout has a nice mix of holes from reachable par 5s to tough par 3s. Grand Oaks Golf Club is a fair test that is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. There are some birdie opportunities available if you play it smart and it's forgiving enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence.

Golfer Reviews

Thank you for the 4-Star review! We appreciate the great feedback and are so glad you enjoyed our new clubhouse. Thanks for coming out!
On it's way back
Course has been closed for 2.5 years but has reopened. Building a new driving range so only a putting green is available. Although the course has lost 200 + trees due to a pipeline and an oak disease, it is a great layout with enough trees lining most holes that will get you into trouble. Watch out for water hazards you cannot see from the tee box. No cart girl but plenty of ice coolers on the course. Staff is excellent and the new golf shop/bar is really cool with at least 5 TV'S. Will definitely play this course again.
Surprising!
I played here on August 31. The course was in very nice condition. Holes 15 and 16 are tricky if you don't realize there are nearby water hazards. 18 has a hazard on the right that is not visible from the tee box. Trust the aiming stake. So here's the scoop, a couple of years ago there was a microburst which took down hundreds of oak trees and the city, through eminent domain, had put in a pipeline through the middle of the course. The line is buried. This resulted in the course being closed for a bit. The owner did a great job of getting the course back up to speed. It plays like a links style course due to the tree loss but there are still a few tree lined fairways left. The greens were smooth and true.
Thank you for the 4-Star review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your challenging round today. Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
Nice water hazrds needs smart play
Though several holes still are under repair, it is enough for fun. Lots of water/creek requires smart play. Overall very good course.
Not bad, but not great
Course layout was ok. Probably some of the best greens I have played in Dallas, but unfortunately there wasn't much grass everywhere else. For $25 you can't expect much
Great course can't wait for it to reopen.
Needs improvement on the fairways. Great staff really helpful and friendly. I'm sure the course is ready to close probably why the condition wasn't so great. Very fun course to play though. I hope you guys give it the attention it deserves to make it a beautiful course. Lots of potential.
Poor course due wetaher
Usually a good course, rain left it in poor conditions.
Great coarse for the price and convient
Can't beat the price, Sand traps are still under repair, but all else was great.
Great wee course
Highly recommend this track.
The fairways are tight and not always a driver. The greens are smallish but very readable, less break that one thinks new players.
For first time players you would need to play with a local as there's quite a few hidden hazards of the tee boxes.
Go play this course, great value for the money
Hidden Gem
Played the course for the first time. Wasn't expecting much but decided to check it out based on other reviews. I'm glad I did. Course was in great shape. Could not asked for a better experience for the price point.
Diamond in the rough
This is a wonderful course to play, and quite challenging. The course conditions are fantastic! This is a must play!
Good considering the weather.
We played on a 100 degree day but the course kept us filled with cold water. Even with the hot summer, the tee boxes were nice the the greens were great. I will play again soon.
still good
Will keep playing as long as it stays in the current condition. Roughs were nice....slight penalty for missing fairway but not brutal. Fairways and greens were very good. Many bunkers were being worked on...which for me is fine...got a free drop as they were not playable...LOL. Overall, a vrey good deal.
Not So Grand
It is easy to see how this course used to be grand, but not any more. The greens were, for the most part, in pretty good shape, but very grainy. Fairways had several really brown spots with extremely thin grass. The water hazards have a lot of trash. Some of the tees are missing the markers for the hole's layout. Some of the tee boxes are a little chewed up. The buildings are in need of some basic maintenance, and there are places where the cart paths are extremely rough. Local knowledge of where to hit the ball off the tee, and your second shot on par five's is important. Also, being very clear on how far you hit your driver in the air is gonna save you some heart-ache. Water, waste areas, and ditches come into play pretty often. There are lots of mature trees and some narrow fairways, so straight is better than long on most holes. When this course has some time to recover, I think it may be worth the drive from Garland, but not now.
Thank you for the 4-Star review! We appreciate you coming out and hope to see you again soon.
