Decent Course for the Price
Nice track, solid fairways, but the teeboxes and greens were in bad shape. Lots of divot issues on the greens (repair your divots) and spotty greens.
Below average and overpriced
The only reason to play this course is proximity. It is overpriced for the conditions (greens and tee boxes are a mess) the grass is not regularly cut well (lose balls in the first rough next to the fairway). I like the course layout but this is not a nice course.
Biggest changes this year are the new practice bays (still no range) and some of the work to cut down trees on #6.
Greens were in pretty good condition, definitely much improved.
Course is still a bit overgrown, but it gets a little better every time I play.
Big Rain on 18
Do not play the longest tees when you hit the ball in the woods all day. Course was in good shape and so were the greens .
Great things
Somebody or somebodys have put some real TLC into this course. It used be something a little better than a dog track. Now it's one of the better public courses in the area and probably the best value. I hesitate to sing its praises because more people will come, but it's worth knowing a tired old course can improve so much and be an asset to the community. One small knit: the rough is absolutely penal right now. Like U.S. Open style, Ease up on us lads!!
No play
I did not get to play. It was walking only. Since I’m a combat disabled veteran I not able to walk. Please refund my points.
Great Price, Pace, and Conditions
Usually play Greendale several times a year. By far the best shape it has been in. They have completed some great work around the course; greens repair, cart paths, tree removal, and bunkers. Early morning round and finished 18 holes in under 3 1/2 hours. Great day of golf.
Slightly below average and overpriced
I like the layout, but the greens are probably below average for a Northern VA public course. No driving range, no cups on the practice green, no chopping area, carts are older. Trees are thick in a lot of areas so people looking for balls can really slow down the pace of play. No Marshall to speak of on the course so if a group in front of you is struggling pace of play is ruined. Tee times might be too close together because of this. On the right day this is a fun course though. Plenty of water and sand challenges.
Gorgeous and challenging course
First time playing this course. Great conditions. Only cart path today which was a bit of a pain but understandable. Pretty challenging for a beginner but still fun.
