Terrible course!!!
The course has no practice area for chipping, no driving range, a poor putting green and the course has many areas still under maintenance. I wouldn't recommend this course for players looking to record scores, it's more of a swing it and wing it kinda course. The Greens are horrendous ATM
My coach was attempting to get me dialed in at the driving net before our round when we were very rudely told to leave the bay by some elderly instructor cause he had a lesson he was about to start...with the course only having one net for driving they should accommodate its guests better and set times for lessons at a different location or even a less busy time. All in all I had a horrible experience at the course and I will not be returning or recommending this course to anyone.
Nice muni
Walked 18 on a Friday. Course is in good shape but 4some two groups in front of us were really slow. Fun layout, and conditions are what you'd expect for a muni. Good value course and I'll be back.
Interrupted by incline weather
Only 10 holes played so not a full review. Hale started falling on Course so play interrupted after 10 holes. Course was average condition for those holes played. Staff were nice and accommodating.
Crammed
I understand daylight savings and trying to finish before the sun comes down…but that’s no reason to cram everyone out on the course without any time in between…Although your thought process was more people on the course at once means faster play…it actually caused a jam and delays! My group was asked to start 5 min before out tee time and approached the tee box with 2 other groups waiting to tee off lol. What was the rush for? Course conditions were terrible…greens were like a game of minesweeper! Overall pace of play was terrible due to staff decisions to cram players onto the course without any time in between. For the price, you can play at a far nicer course…
Great course close to downtown DC
Greendale is a fun municipal track. Greens are in largely great shape for the late fall and the fairways/tee boxes are decent, as well. Very walkable so pass on the cart unless you really need it.
Overpriced
I decided to give Greendale a second chance since it's only 7 minutes from my home. It was a mistake. It was cart path only with no apparent reason. We haven't had significant rain in a week. There was more tall weeds in the bunkers than sand. The pace of play on back 9 was terrible. Most of the greens were good but terribly slow. If I hadn't had some golf now r
credits, I would have paid $54 for 18 holes with cart. In my opinion that is definitely overpriced for the conditions. I won't return and neither will I recommend.
Needs improvement
Pros
Decent layout - not so hilly
water holes are great
met some nice local golfers
Cons
No Driving Range
Sand traps with no sand
Water logged fairways
Divot holes not repaired by players
signage was sun burnt and showed age
no rangers to help
Greendale Review
Greendale is a great public course in Alexandria off Telegraph road. Convenience to those locally is second-to-none. Staff is friendly, and greens are in pretty good shape. Bunkers have been left to overgrow throughout COVID though fairways and rough in decent shape.
Course has a putting green and a hitting net., and pace of play is pretty common for a municipal track. Overall a great course if you’re in the area and want to avoid longer commutes.
