Overpriced
I decided to give Greendale a second chance since it's only 7 minutes from my home. It was a mistake. It was cart path only with no apparent reason. We haven't had significant rain in a week. There was more tall weeds in the bunkers than sand. The pace of play on back 9 was terrible. Most of the greens were good but terribly slow. If I hadn't had some golf now r
credits, I would have paid $54 for 18 holes with cart. In my opinion that is definitely overpriced for the conditions. I won't return and neither will I recommend.
Needs improvement
Pros
Decent layout - not so hilly
water holes are great
met some nice local golfers
Cons
No Driving Range
Sand traps with no sand
Water logged fairways
Divot holes not repaired by players
signage was sun burnt and showed age
no rangers to help
Greendale Review
Greendale is a great public course in Alexandria off Telegraph road. Convenience to those locally is second-to-none. Staff is friendly, and greens are in pretty good shape. Bunkers have been left to overgrow throughout COVID though fairways and rough in decent shape.
Course has a putting green and a hitting net., and pace of play is pretty common for a municipal track. Overall a great course if you’re in the area and want to avoid longer commutes.
This course used to be decent
Save your money & play elsewhere. The greens are awful and has patches weed, the bunkers are galso rowing greater weeds. The course maintenance is lower then poor. Not worth your money
What The Bunk?!
I’ve played here on numerous occasions and for the past year the bunkers have been unkempt. There is literally weeds/grass growing in the bunkers where it should just be sand…Some of the greens also have weed infestations…there was really only a handful of “smooth” greens. My friends and I play here for convenience, but overall you all need to do a way better job of course maintenance and the staff for some odd reason today gave us trouble checking in. We prepaid and yet he needed every single person to check in?
A fun golf course with lots of potential
Greendale is an inexpensive urban golf course that is fun to play and not too difficult for the average weekend golfer. The course layout is excellent, giving the Greendale a lot of potential to be a great course, but that potential is lost due to poorly maintained greens and tee boxes which are little more than dirt and dry, dead grass. The staff is warm and friendly, however the course lacks a driving range and the carts are gasoline powered. Greendale is a great course for walking, with few hills and short distances between holes. I'll probably play it again, but I would gladly pay more in green fees if they could improve the greens and tee boxes.
Garbage- save your money and play elsewhere
They had just punched the greens but said nothing about it. The Tee boxes looked like a cats litter box, as did the greens. This course should be a $15 round,, but they charge &50 even with the greens being beyond terrible. Please save your mon h and play somewhere else.
Greens are reprehensible
Your greens are much too slow and have been that way for years. You really need to fix this
Requiring masks
Masks do nothing to stop the spread of COVID which is an aerosolized, airborne virus. Please educate yourself if you think otherwise by reading actual science. The tee boxes were also mud, and unmarked, and the greens were not good. I think it's overpriced for not having a driving range.
terrible
Course was in terrible shape, greens were half mud, half crab grass. Bunkers were unplayable. Not worth the $65 they charge with a cart.
Rough times at Greendare
It was a pretty bad experience for the price. Most tee boxes and greens had bare areas. The sand traps had little sand and most had thick weeds growing in them. The course looked like it had not been cut in several weeks. Balls were easily lost in the rough right off the fairways. There are far better choices for golf that are a better value than this one. I won't be back.
Its ok for what i i paid
A couple greens and a couple tee boxes were in bad shape but overall exceptionally playable. I walked and that was fine….typical saturday round but i liked the layout. No practice range is a huge drawback
Decent Municipal Course
I read the prior low reviews and decided to go anyway. Some of the fairways are not great and a few greens needed help. The sand traps have been washed out but overall this is a fun course and for the money on a Sunday I liked it. The fairways are good and not as the prior reviews talked about. I will go back even though its a 40 min drive.
