Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Good shape of green but too slow on green
Need to improve cart paths and bathrooms which is leaking faucets.
Great Layout and Test
I played with a friend and was paired with two other golfers for a mid-morning tee time on a Saturday. Even on a weekend during prime time, we never had an issue with a pace of play either in front of or behind us. That is a real rarity in northern Virginia courses on the weekend. The staff was fantastic - they took all precautions one would expect with social distancing, but also made it a point to ask us how we were doing on the range, in the clubhouse, and on the patio after our round. The course was in really good shape with the exception of the greens. They seemed overwatered from earlier that morning and had not been mowed in probably 2-3 days. We thought they might speed up as the afternoon sun pounded down, but they never did. I enjoy playing PVGC and think it's a great test of golf. If they give the greens a little more TLC, it would have been a flawless experience.
Love the layout
Great layout with its easily walkable course design. Always in good conditions in my experience and challenging enough for me. Will play here again. Keep up the good work fellas!
Slow play
The weather was great, but play was slow. It didn't seem to be over crowded, just that too many golfers were playing slowly for whatever reason.
Excellent course
Played a round at Pleasant Valley this morning. It rained very lightly for the front and cleared up by the back. Staff was extremely friendly and the course was in great shape. Greens were a good speed and well maintained.
Nice day to play
The staff was prepared to open and ready to except customers. Everyone inside the club house wore masks and were very freindly. The couse is in very good shape and set up to accomodate the current COVID-19 atmosphere. We had a excellent round. Go Play!!!!
Excellent golf
Conditions of PV were better than I've seen in years. Tee to green, most every home was near perfect. Great test of golf especially when the wind is up, like it was today. Got a Hot Deal for $50 too.
Shank handling covid-19
Paid to have a cart as walking with an artificial hip and knee is difficult. When I arrived was told they couldn’t provide me a cart due to the number of people playing and covid-19 restrictions would not allow sharing. Fortunately another player who I didn’t know was willing to walk. Paid full green fee and would not accommodate my situation. Will not return to this course again.
Okay course
Well. I live in Maryland and only places I could play golf are in VA. I found a deal and played here for the first time. But, I don't think I will come back here to play. Compared to MD golf course, VA golf course overall are not in good condition. This one didn't really care the condition well and especially rough wasn't cut right. Greens and fairways were okay but not great. layout was simple . overll course wasn't difficult.
Great course!
Course in great shape! Tees, fairways, and greens all good!
Not enough bang for the buck!
The course has had a lot of play and it shows on the tees, fairways and greens. In addition, there is no walking rate for those who rather walk during social distancing. There are better values out there than this one.
Definitely Pleasant
I had a great time playing Pleasant Valley. The course was in excellent shape, and the staff was friendly. The snack bar wasn’t much to write home about, but I don’t play golf so I can find the world’s best snack bar. I will be back soon.
Pleasant Valley golf club
Nice layout with rolling fairways. Aeration on greens but needed a little more sand.
Underrated Northern Virginia Course
It's been a couple of years since I had played Pleasant Valley after moving east and closer to Washington, DC. I played it this morning and found it to be in better shape than I remembered. The greens had been aerated recently but still rolled really well. Rough was consistent and the fairways were in really good shape. Even the bunkers, which presumably haven't been raked much during COVID-19, were very playable in the fairway and around the green. Pleasant Valley is a really firm, but fair test of golf. It's a nice balance of risk-reward and holes that you can attack or play conservatively. I will be heading back to PVGC soon...and so should you!
