Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Great all around course
Clean and well maintained - great running fairways, slow greens which is goodt for aggressive players but bad for timid putters - all of the staff was very friendly. Tee times well spaced. I'll certainly go back.
Fun simple course, greens need a lot of work.
The course sits on a nice piece of land that is not surrounded by houses so you don't have to worry about spraying balls into people's backyards. The fairways were in decent shape and the overall course appears to be well maintained. The greens, however, are full of ball marks and in need of some substantial repair. The practice facility is small but serviceable. The carts come equipped with GPS which is a nice touch.
Overall, a simple course that is a good break from a workday but not worth a weekend round IMO.
Overpriced for the conditions
Course is mediocre in condition. Greens are usually slow and not particularly smooth. Greens fees can be high ($98) without a golfnow account and range balls are not included. Staff is ok but not particularly friendly. Pace of play can be hit or miss but often very slow.
For comparable money, I'd suggest going to Westfields instead.
Hot!
I know there is not a lot that you can do to control the weather, but man it was hot. That being said, you can make sure that there is a lot of water in the coolers on the course and the drink cart is making lots of passes by. We teed off at 12pm and only saw the drink cart twice and every cooler was empty.
All and all the course was in OK shape, very wet due to lots of rain last week. One of the Tee Boxes had grass as tall as the rough.
Pleasant Experience
Pleasant experience at Pleasant Valley. The course was in great condition for early July. It was a little pricey compared to other courses in the area but worth the extra few dollars.
The greens were quick and in excellent shape!
The only negative was that the GPS in our cart was extremely slow and too dim to see, so we didn't bother after the 3rd hole. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal but I didn't bring my GPS watch with me; so we played on without it.
Enjoyed the course.
Pretty scenic and in good condition from tee to green. Greens rolled nice but were a bit slow.
Well Managed Course
Played on Father's Day, a busy day. Despite the fact they were fully booked we were off a little early. At the 11th we ran into a Marshall who had caught another twosome trying to sneak in front of us. He had them return to the clubhouse immediately making sure we had the tee box. It must be the GPS systems on the carts that allowed them to detect the intrusion.
Decent Place to Play
The course was in great condition, but the cart paths seem to be washing away...lots of pot holes and ruts. Not a big deal on normal days, but when you are cart path only or 90 degree rule you spend a lot of time on the cart path.
The carts have GPS and it is to the pin, so a very nice perk for the round. More water on this course than I expected, but that only adds to the challenge.
Decent Course
Played on a Friday afternoon....pace of play was decent, finished in about 4.25 hours. Tee boxes were a mess though and I did not see any marshals on the course.
The course was in great shape, but it should be in May.
The course was in great shape, but a little over watered in spots. We found the course to be "pleasant", but not terribly interesting or challenging. No one in front of us or pushing us from behind made for a great round. They also had a great selection of draft beer in the clubhouse.
Great course
great course. very fun. Great condition. Great greens and bunkers. Drains well. Fairways like carpets. Great Carts with GPS.
First time playing
Very nice course. Would make the drive again if I found a good price for round. Enjoyed it.
Great course - You get your moneys worth!
Such a great course!
The fariways were super nice and the greens rolled extremely true- no bumps and holes, just nice.
As a monday afternoon anywhere would be, there were not alot of people out. There was no starter so we could just start anytime we wanted to.
The course is fairly short - with a couple of drivable par 4s - if you play off the white tees (short of 6,000 yrds)
There seems to be a nice mixture of water and trees and long grass.
As the rough has been somewhat overgrown, it is key to keep the ball in the fairway at all costs.
Nice course for the price.
It's the beginning of the season so the conditions are what's to be expected. The greens were very bumpy and rough. The tee boxes also need triming and work. But, the folks were nice and accomodating. It took about 5 hours to play the round, but it was as beautiful day, so who cares.
This course has a lot of potential to become really nice.
I was somewhat disappointed with the state of the greens. I can't say there was a single one I'd remotely consider to be in good shape. The winter months clearly were not kind to them. I know it's early in the season and the winter definitely took its toll. There really didn't seem to be a whole lot of evidence that any attention has been given to bring them around anytime soon. Hopefully that'll change soon. I still enjoyed my round with great playing partners and the best weather of the young season by far. I liked the layout although I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of split fairways. The middle of the fairway is no place to stick a tree. The only real sour note was the pace of play. I don't care if it is Saturday afternoon, 5 hours is way too long for a round of golf. Lets pick up the pace duffers!!!! I'll definitely be back for another go but will probably wait another month or so hoping the greens get the attention they deserve. Good course with potential to be very good.
Deceivingly open
The course opens up beautifully to all types of drives, but the green only accept fairway driven well. The conditions were in good shape the this time of year, I would play this course anytime, but its too far me me to come out and pay the regular price. The discount was worth playing here.
Overall, a good experience.
Pretty solid layout and conditions were good for mid-February. Round was SLOW though. 4hrs and 45 mins on a 40 degree in February.
Nice course overall. Green slow and bumpy now.
Good value for the money. Overall well maintained, green slow and bumpy.
