Always nice to play here
The staff treats you like your a member. The course was wet as expected from the winter snow just thawing. Greens seem to have been aireated but still rolled well. This course is always a first choice to play.
Friendly Staff - Course in good shape after long winter
First time back in several years to Westfields course. Front desk staff very friendly as was Fred who took bag and paired me up with a club member. Very courteous. Early in season after a long winter, but course in good shape. Some traps tougher than other with respect to quality of sand, but was a minor issue. At the turn club provided hot chicken soup on a cold day...perfect. Enjoyed my visit and will definitely be coming back. Nice layout and recommended
Good course
Not so far frrom Centreville,. It is very niceeeeee course......Some courses are challenging. It was chilly. The ground was frozen so the ball bounce too much, Hand warmer were sold out.
Always a fun round
Westfields is one of the better courses in the area. The courses has a nice variety of holes you can be aggressive on and other holes where par really is a great score. The fairways and greens all play firm and fast, and a good shot is truly rewarded. Yes, a bad shot is definitely punished. This course has a drivable par 4 hole on the 14th so that is always a perk too - play it left of the green and it should filter to the hole. The one downside of this course is the price but there are many opportunities on their website or through golfnow to find a great deal.
Very challenging and eye appealling.
Excellent course. Staff was very friendly, I felt like I could of been a member.
Quality course for a great price!
Super friendly staff. Course condition was outstanding...bunkers were all maintained in superb condition. Well laid out, challenging course....some long holes even from the blue tees!
Can't wait to play again!
Consistently Satisfies
Course played tough at 50 degrees and windy. Greens were in great shape and very fast. Course was lush and green.
Westfields is Always a. treat
West fields is my "splurge" (or Golfnow Rewards free hot deal) course of choice in the area. It's a very upscale feel, and I've been impressed by every aspect of the course each time I've been there. The course is plenty long from the Blues, so I haven't had an occasion to try the Boom-Boom tees yet, maybe next time. The staff was great during one rain delay and took care of everyone in the clubhouse. The practice facilities are second to none in the area.
Hard but good.
This is a very fun and challenging course that's in very good condition. The thing that makes it so hard though is the greens are very very firm which makes approaches very tricky and needing much loft and or spin. Also it makes the putts break a lot more than they appear.
players course
great course, great staff. Must play course for dc area golfers
fair value
mediocre practice facility, greens not in good shape, playable and enjoyable course, super staff' fair value for money
Great value and excellent condition
One of the best public courses in Northern Virginia. Excellent staff of professionals with a private club feel. Lush fairways and tucked greens make for challenging but FairPlay from anywhere in bounds! Great views and manicured touch all season long. I always enjoy playing Westfileds and when I can find a great deal on GolfNow it makes it even better.
Beautiful, challenging course.
I recommend playing from the White tees unless you are a bomber of the ball. I am an above average driver of the ball and I couldnt reach 3 of the par 4's in 2. Good luck, its a great course.
Excellent course!
This is my new favorite course! Will definitely return again!
One of the best course Ive played this year
One of the best course Ive played this year, With the GolfNow discount, I was able to fit this wonderful course within my budget. Great staff as well.
Course is in TERRIBLE shape
Sad to see this gem sliding way downhill. Fairways are nothing but a Divot factory and the greens are rough with several unattended ball marks on each hole. Not to mention the edges of the greens are all lacking grass. Private course feel, but public course play and you get a place that is in need of heavy attention. Sad..it's off my list.
Great Course
Westfields was a pretty nice course. $100 a round nice. NO.
$50 -$70 a round yes. Any day.
Most of the tee boxes were in good shape. Fairways were pretty plush. Rough was pretty thick so if you missed the fairway it made for tougher shots. Water is not in play on many holes. Any hole that wasn't a par 3 here you hit driver on.You'll hit driver on like 14 holes here. Public course that feels private. That's their motto. When you pull into parking lot they pull up and get your bags from your car and bring them back by the carts. People working inside were nice. Range balls were included. When you finish your round they give you a cold wet cloth to wipe down with. Then a kid hand scrubbed every club and put them out front. We went inside and drank a few beers. Few tvs with football on. Bar was small. Just ok.
Worst thing about the course was the greens. Greens had different layers and a lot of slope. Pin placement was on the side of a hill on some of them. If they aerated and made the greens flatter the course would be incredible.
A few holes were over 500 yards. No holes with blind tee shots. Well maybe one.
Overall it's a great course. It does have an upscale feel to it.
Ill be looking to play it again ASAP.
Quality Course...for the right price
First thing's first: the current condition of the course is not anywhere near worth $100+ for peak weekend tee times. It's not in rough shape, but it's definitely not in pristine condition to command top dollar. We played at 3:30PM and got a deal for $55 which is in the range of what I'd expect for the course and condition. Some greens had bare spots around the edges and the tee boxes were also beat up in places. (Note to golfers everywhere: fill your divots and fix your ball marks)
This course's claim to fame is it was designed by Fred Couples. Pretty sure this is only partially true. He was a design consultant with the architect Gene Bates (who is the architect of all "Fred Couples courses"). Be that as it may, the course has a distinct style that is unique to the NoVA area. It's fairways are undulating the greens are different shapes and sizes. Additionally, there are a few holes that really make you think from the tee or force you into the smart shot.
Overall, a very nice course that when in pristine (early season) condition would most certainly be worth its full price for admission. Otherwise, look/wait for a deal and your won't be disappointed.
All but the greens
Everything was exceptional, except the greens. I'm not sure if it was poor etiquette by groups ahead of me or poor maintenance by the grounds crew, but I hope the greens are in better condition next time I play here.
In great shape for a course that is much played.
Westfields has nice large greens with medium to slow speed and some relatively light breaks. Tricky but playable. Fairways were beautiful as were approach areas and tee boxes. 1st cut of rough is not bad either Staff are pro's and super friendly and helpful. For the golfnow price, you cannot beat this value.
