Great Outing
Haven't had so much fun playing as I had at Burke Lake in years. I even learned a few things about my approach to the game. I'll be back!

Better courses in No Va than Burke Lake
As a par 3, walk only course, my expectations were already pretty low. But I was hoping the fairways would be wider and more forgiving. The course is compact leaving little margin for error. Few holes allow for a driver, so if you want to work on your iron game, this is the course.

Had never played an all Par 3 course before.
My initial skepticism vanished when I realized how great this is to tighten up your iron and short game.

Aeration Surprise
Whole course (fairways & greens) were being aerated right up to my 2:50 tee time. Greens were heavily sanded and not puttable. Fairways and greens’ collars were spotty (extensive bare spots) and littered with hard, dry aeration plugs. What a mess! I made the tee time at Burke Lake so my wife could walk along with me. She bailed. I should have also.

Not worse your time or money
The fairway is unkempt with bold spots everywhere. The greens are slow and missing grass at spots. The pace of play so slow, I quit after nine holes even though I paid for 18 holes. The layout is confusing with tees and next greens next to each other. I will not be returning to play this course.
