Don't miss this unique course
Meadows is one of my favorite. Must play the Water Fall Hole. Worth the trip. Staff is excellent and have a lot of fun tournaments on the weekends which is what the Fredericksburg area has been missing for the golfer that wants to compete a little bit.
Not as unique as it used to be
I previously reviewed this course years ago when I first played there. Back then, there was a lot more charm to the course itself than the changes that have been made in the past couple of years.
For instance, they have filled sodded the "island" Par 3 on Waterfall that used to be completely surrounded by bunkers and I thought it was a fun challenge. Likewise, they've filled in the baseball diamond on the par 3 on Longest and now the only clue you have that you're teeing off on a baseball field is the dilapidated wall beyond the green.
Lastly, and most disappointingly, you used to be able to drive your cart up behind the waterfall on the par 3 but instead of making repairs to the tunnel, they simply walled it off.
I know these seem like mild complaints, but these are three examples of what I felt made Meadow Farms fun and interesting. Now, all that's left of note is the Par 6, and they don't even use the back tee box anymore.
I can't complain too much, after all I only paid $35 this time and the people are still friendly. But living an hour and a half away now, it's not worth the drive to me anymore.
Well maintained course
Very well designed course for higher handicap golfers like me with occasional challenges for better golfers. First three holes on Longest Nine were a real test. Course conditions were good. Roughs were punitive, so stay in the fairways. Worth the trip to Orange County.
Early spring conditions
Greens were in great shape, rest of course needs to grow in for the season.
Good Golf Course
I enjoy playing at Meadows from time to time. The staff is very nice and the course offers some novelty holes. It's a fun golf course.
improved
They have made a lot of nice improvements, better cart path, lots of stairs put in to access difficult tee boxes and greens
The greens were in excellent shape for this time of year
They are working on course improvement and new owners are doing a good job. It is a long drive for us bur we will go back.
Management is excellent.
The management at Meadow Farms is second to none. They communicate with their customers very well and truly care about your experience. They make sure you are having a great round on the course and I am glad to have such a wonderful course nearby. Keep up the great work.
Gret golf expereince
Everything about this course is first rate. We had a group of 12 and we had a great time. It took almost 2 hours to get to the course but everyone agreed they would go back again. The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. The fairways were like a carpet, the ball sat up beautifully. We played all 3 nines and they were all different and fun to play. A great day was had by all!
Great Course
STAFF, FOOD, GOLF ALL GET AN A+ RATING IN MY BOOK.
I LEFT ABOUT 7 BALLS FOR YA'LL OUT ON THE COURSE AND GAVE A COUPLE TO THE FISH!!
What a deal (HOT DEAL)
Tees and fairways were in great shape, greens took a beating from the heat wave but staff has at least moved pins to a good part of the green. Will be back again!
Usually better
Course conditions are normally pretty good however quite a number of the greens were in terrible condition. Found out after the round that the greens had been treated with a supposedly bad batch of fertilizer. Fairways were excellent but tee boxes could use a little better grooming.
Great layout
What a great place! Course was in good shape. Rough was a little long.
THis is an Excellent course
Me and my wife played and the course for very good, pace of play was excellent.
Staff was Rude
My group ended up being 5 people and they asked us to play 3 and 2 which was no big deal. The problem was the threesome in front of us was extremely slow and we were waiting 10 minutes everytime we hit the ball to hit again. The staff approached us 3 times and asked us to split up, which we were already. The problem was instead of our threesome making the twosome behind us wait we just had them hit and we took cover so we could keep pace of play going. The marshall kept approaching us until he finally went and talked to the group in front of us. Felt very harassed and nobody asked group in front of us to speed up or let us play through.
Price is right
Course was in need of some TLC and attention to detail - especially around the tee boxes. However, the price was right and the staff were great. Pace was slow but to be fair they had a tournament that was just finishing.
27 holes and not another cart for acres...
OK it was 45 degrees with 25 mph wind gusts so only six cars in the parking lot. The course played great and the greens after a recent punching will be perfect very soon.
great day!
It's been years since I played this course! What a great day, weather, course and staff. I live over an hour away but my friend and I will be there once a month.we love the up and down and the challenge. Even better than when the farmer had it but the beautiful bulls are gone.i missed them!
