Beautiful course
Lake of the woods is a beautiful golf course. The course is in excellent shape and is very well maintained. Hole #10 is now open for play and is very picturesque. Staff is super friendly every time I play there. Probably the friendliest of all courses around the Fredericksburg area. Course can be quite challenging as it is tree lined on most holes. Beautiful homes line the course as well. Greens fees are among the lowest around also. Great value for a great course. If you're looking for a really fun day of golf, give Lake of the Woods a try. You'll be glad you did!
Good course
Good course in very fair condition. Pace of play was good, everyone from club house check in to Marshall and food service were very friendly. First time playing and didn’t know what to expect based on reviews but some folks must be very hard to please. I found the place to be way better than the other two in the area and at a cheaper rate.
Good outing at private community
Staff is very nice and courteous. Electric carts are a nice amenity. Bring extra sleeves of balls if you can't keep your drives on the fairway. Pace varies depends who's on the course. No marshall to monitor slow play. Newbies need to learn course etiquette before coming out. Other than that it's a good of you can land a hot deal.
Great day of fun
Played here on the 21st with my grandson. Even though it was overcast and on the cool side, it was a great day of fun and fellowship. Course is in good shape and the greens were in excellent condition. Extremely friendly staff at this course! I highly recommend it!
Horrible
The fairways and greens were in horrible condition and I couldn’t even play 18 holes because they were renovating the 10th hole.
Possibilities
Friendly staff, but course is in rough shape. Ooor signage, fairways are tight, putting surface was horrible.
Many other better options in the area. Won’t return.

Lake of the Woods GC
Great track! Greens survived the winter surprisingly well.
Hole #10 is still ground under repair but they give you plenty of options to make sure you get 18 in. (BTW this hole looks great and is scheduled to be open memorial day)
Great warm up areas even though iron and wood work are into nets. Balls provided which is a huge plus.
Only true downside, the food.
Greens are good, but that’s about it.
The greens are rolling really well I’ll say that first, but everything else is in not great condition. Tea boxes don’t have grass, Fairways are spotty and even around the green you’re chipping off ground. also hole 10 is closed until memorial day weekend. The sand is nice too though

LOWGC
Good Value, woods, hiils
Lotta little dog legs and hilly holes. Gotta pay attention to the angles and slopes. Greens, given the location and weather patterns, should have been smooth and not choppy. 10th hole was closed; yet, it was the nicest and maybe most challenging on the course the green was fenced off but the rest of that hole looked fine.
