Great course for all ages Photo submitted by u000007489204 on 08/26/2013
Horrible greens
The course will be redoing the greens this summer, and it's a good thing. Don't bother playing until they are back up in the fall. The fairways are hard as a rock (as are the greens) which made me wonder if they ever irrigate.
They stack tee times one on top of the other, and with the extremely difficult playing conditions, you can expect a very long day.
Poor greens
Played this course because of the reviews. The greens on the course were very poor. The bunkers were also very poor, for 18 dollars you are getting what you pay for. The course layout is pretty fun, you will play a lot of different shots on this course. If you want to play golf for under twenty dollars on the weekend play here, but other than that it's not worth the drive for some people.
Very nice and well maintained courseA very nice course at a great price

Suffolk GC
Course was in really good shape. I have played it several times and this is the best by far. The are obviously working hard to keep it up now. Great value, and the staff was great.
course is in excellent condition. best is past 5 years.
i play this course 20 plus times a year and this is the best condition that i have see it in . lot of my friends like this course.
Best municipal course in the hampton roads area
One of my favorite public courses to play.. You will use every club in your bag.
great layout
tried course because of great reviews. I was not disappointed. played hells point for more than twice the cost and that course was in terrible condition. would recommend suffolk to anyone.
Outstanding facility
I play this course at least monthly. It is a group favorite and the green pin placement is always challenging.
good course, good people. you will become a fan.
Eddie and the guys have done a good job on the condition of the course, with the fairways looking good. He tells me that he is going to re-condition all the greens in June. He has new carts, the food in the grill area is good, the range is good, the putting green is good, and there is a blitz scheduled every day. There is a golf association at the course for a very reasonable price, with regular tournaments scheduled during the season. I am a fan of the course.
Suffolk Golf Course
We really enjoyed this golf outting one was the cheap golf rates and the other was how beautiful the course was! Golf Now was so easy to use and I will definitely be using it again to play this course again!
Excellent Public Course. Well maintained, and resonably challenging.
Greens were pretty challenging. Pace was not bad considering the number of folks on the course. We never had to wait more than a minute for the group in front of us to clear the fariway or green. Driving through VA enroute South, I booked as a single about 40 minutes from my Tee time to capture opporutity to play on a gorgeos day. The course was 5 minutes off the highway. At #1, I was fortunate to link up with a twenty something twosome with the Tee time in front of mine. Their game was comparitable to mine, and they were very nice. Good conversation and a good round. Overall, it was a very good value and experience.
This course has a nice mix of holes.
A nice mix of holes and maintained well. It could use markers at 150 yards to help determine line and help planning shots.
The greens are going to be completely redone in June but are vey playable for the time of year.
The fairways are the best that they have been in years.
Nice course setup.
I've been playing this course for the last couple of years. I like the course a lot but the amenities leave much to be desired. The ball cleaners located throughout the course all have broken handles but the driving range with it's dirt surface, weeds, and ripped up mats more than makes up for that. The actual course is it great condition. The fairways and greens are always kept up and I've never had a bad time at the course.
Good risk, reward course.
The Suffolk Golf Course is a good risk, reward course requiring good course management throughout. This was my first time playing the course and I can't wait to play again.
Great course!
I love playing at this course. The greens are in great shape and the course is challenging.
It plays more difficult than you think
This is a challenging medium length course. Hole 11 is a hard dog leg right with a medium to long iron into the green that can't be long or theres trouble. The 18th is a great finishing hole. It plays alot longer than the scorecard. Going for the green in 2 with all carry over water tough.
Extremely fun design.
The course has a surprisingly large amount of elevation changes. It is a diverse design. Some holes are just straight away bomb it fellas but others require strategy, skill, and patience. The greens are very firm and fast right now but they will soften up during the season. There are enough challenging holes to make this a great experience for a wide range of golfers. There is some great scenery too.
Several hard doglegs and water moments make this course challenging and lovely.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. While this was my first round at this course, I will be back. This must be a fabulous course in the summer. Great find.
Really great shape, especially Greens.
Suffolk keeps getting better and really better... Greens are fine, Quick and True rolling....Fairways are in very good shape, never had to improve a shot all day. Many players are like me, older-experienced makes the play really move along..
Great Day we'll be back soon. Bernie C
