Challenging but fun!
I just moved from San Diego. I am playing different courses to experience what Hampton Roads has to offer. Kempsville Greens was very enjoyable to play on. The course is a little challenging and it requires some clean shots to keep the ball in play. The water can be a challenge so be wary of that. The greens are in pretty good shape. The wildlife brought a smile to my face. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was pointed in the right direction. I plan on making a return trip soon:-)
Great value
Pace of play still acceptable despite being incredibly crowded
Pace of Play
Fairways are in decent shape and greens were kept in fairly good condition. Sand traps are atrocious. Pace of play needs to be looked at, on a busy Sunday morning, 2 groups of 2 people were playing but not together.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Kempsville Greens Golf Course, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Solid Course
Kempsville Greens has a great atmosphere, the course is in good shape only exception being the sand bunkers. Everything else from the greens and fairways being trimmed well, and the staff in the clubhouse having great customer service, you cant go wrong with a round or 2 of golf on this course.

Outstanding value!!!
This course was challenging and fun to play. The greens were excellent. The fairways. we’re dry and hard due to a lack of rain. The tee boxes were pretty beat up but not a big issue when you can use a tee. My son and I played two rounds for $52 a piece. I eagled the first hole on day 2 that could have influenced my review!
Average VA east course
Price was decent. The club house snack bar was really slow and not much to choose from. Carts were standard and fully charged. Staff was friendly. Most of tge course is decently maintained. Greens were ok, fairways were mostly dead dry grass, tee boxes were chewed up and more dirt than grass. The course is very narrow and a lot if water hazards on the back 9, not much for sand traps. They do supply cold water at various holes, but the ordering app didn't work. I have played nicer courses for the same amount per round or less. Still fun to play it.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Kempsville Greens Golf Course.
Pace of Play is terrible
Pace of play was terrible, but in part due to the strict tee time scheduling. Was paired with a nice gentleman and although we were at the first tee 10 minutes before our tee time, we were not allowed to play until our set tee time. This stuck us behind 2 groups of 4 we would have been able to play ahead of and have a much faster pace of play. The scheduling is nice, but not allowing a twosome to play ahead of 2 foursomes is a little rediculous to be honest.
Worth the money
This course has well kept greens and you won’t lose your ball in the fairway. That’s pretty much what I look for while trying new course. Tee boxes were very hard though.
Short in legnth - greens in pretty good shape.
Sand traps were in pretty bad shape. No fresh sand and size of traps had been downsized in half.
Fortunately I didn't land in any !! Not sure why, but it seems like they had given up on maintaining them .
Very nice fairways, super friendly staff. Tee boxes could use some work.
Some of the tee boxes we couldn’t even get a tee in the ground. Only complaint though very nice course
Web site
The last three times I tried to load golfnow when I tried to pick my tee time the site said page was not available. This happened June 1,2 and 3

Better than some
The fairways and greens on this course are in very good shape. Luckily, I didn't find but 1 bunker which wasn't in bad shape, but it wasn't in great shape either. I have found over the past few months that many courses are not putting much effort into their sand traps. Some have little sand mixed with earth and in many cases, hard as a rock. Our foursome found that to be the case here. A number of tee boxes were showing some wear. Overall, fun course to play....
