Stumpy Lake Golf Course is a Robert Trent Jones design that provides a unique golfing experience. This scenic layout is routed across a 1,400-acre nature preserve that is absent of any commercial or residential development for miles. The golf course wraps around its namesake lake, which has a canoe and kayak launch as well as a fishing pier. Deer, fox, and eagles are frequently seen on the course and there has even been the occasional bear sighting. Water has a prominent presence throughout and there are also several strategically placed bunkers. Stumpy Lake Golf Course is a layout that will force you to be creative with your shot making but it's still approachable enough for high handicappers to tackle with confidence. If you're looking to get in even more golf, sister club Honey Bee is located almost right next door.

Too much recent rain

Course was aeratinging front 9, could only play the back 9, twice if I wanted to. Recent rain had turned the course into a quagmire. should have closed it for the aeration and to let it dry out. Counter person was friendly. I will play this one again when it hasn't rained in a week or so

Wet but fun

At no fault to Stumpy Lake golf course, it had rained on the Friday prior to my round. The course greens were immaculate but the drainage everywhere else on the course is fair to poor. Challenging course for right handers without a draw and fun yo put. The par 3's are long and not your typical 7-8 iron shots. The rate is worth the play.

Nice Course with some challenges

I saw this course Golf Now for a good price and decided to give it a chance. It had recently rained but the temperature was good so we gave it a whirl. The staff told us about three of the holes were cart path only. This turned out to be about eight of the eighteen holes! It is a course that I would like to play again because it has some interesting and challenging holes. Next time I will wait for more favorable conditions. The staff and snack bar attendant were pleasant. Be sure to always take your receipt from golfnow, as the courses don't always receive your reservation.

A wonderful surprise!

Got a great deal from Golfnow.com, so we decided to play. We were first timers and expected much less. The course was clean and well kept. Bunkers were raked and the sand soft. Greens maintained a challenging, but consistent speed through all 18. All holes were divided by woods, yet the fairways were quite wide. We never drove a ball in the woods. This was a real nice course that I will play again.

Needs a Marshall Program upgrade - Slow play!

I haven't played at Stumpy Lake in over 10 years so I decided to give them a shot. Unfortunately, there were no Marshalls on the course and a few groups of local players jammed up the course and did not offer smaller groups and faster players to play through. Quite frankly I was shocked because I use to play at Stumpy Lake frequently about 10 years ago and I never experienced this from the local folks. So I refused to wait after every shot and left after only 13 holes. Too bad, I really like the course, but I HATE slow play. Golfers who refuse to move over are just plain selfish! Maybe its time for a meeting with the Association. Just a thought!

The course is not hugely difficult but does cause some thinking. It is a great holiday course and I would highly recommend it

Very nice layout

This course is perfect for the average golfer. It has it`s share of hard holes but mixed in nicely with the rest of the course. Greens are better than most for smoothness. I was very impressed!!!!!!.

So-so course

I was disappointed with the course, thought it would be more scenic, in better condition and more challenging. Fairway grass and rough are hideous, you can lose a ball in the middle of the fairway!

Traditional, tree lined fairways, no houses, in good condition.

This is a nice golf course, fairly wide open, tree lined, no houses to be seen. Its not difficult, greens are usually open in front with some bunkering at the sides. Not a lot of water in play, but the last couple of holes run along a very nice looking lake. The greens looked interesting, with changes in slope and contour. It was difficult to get a good feel because they were airated a couple of weeks ago and were still sandy and a little bumpy. Putting could be the challange when the greens recover.

Good shape-fast play-fair price!

The course was in pretty good shape. The greens had been aerated and punched but, were coming back from it so they rolled ok. There wasn't any play on the course for a Sunday afternoon so, being able to play in 3 1/2 hours was awesome. The $21 rate we got on GolfNow was very reasonable for the course. Would definitely play again for that price.

The course has potential

The greens were in horrible shape, we had to play the front 9 twice. Wish I could have gotten my money back so I could go and play another course where I could have played the full 18 and not have to worry about aerated greens.
