Ford's Colony Country Club - Blackheath Course

First time playing this course,from tee to greens was in great shape,challenges different aspects of your game.all staff were very helpful.would recommend playing it when in the area

This course has a great and unique layout can be very challenging.always enjoy playing and meeting new people.the course was wet,cart path only,but that's golf.I still recommend it to others.

We played the blue heron. It sounded like they have one 18 open to the public, two 18's for members only. And they rotate them. Ladies played red; men played white/red combo. (Several combos available). Had fun. Not too challenging, not too easy.

Very good conditions: tees, greens, fairways. Greens readable and broke true.

Nice golf carts. Very good cart paths.

Played the Marsh course. Excellent condition and beautiful layout with plenty of challenges. Would like to see water offered on the course. Not for a first time golfer. Will be back to play this course in the future for sure. Thumbs up!

I played Marsh Hawk in its early days when it was in pristine condition. The new greens are a positive upgrade however the fairways did not have the same definition that I remember from the past. Pace of play was good considering we played as a twosome in the late afternoon. Good value as we booked a Hot Deal with Golf Now.

Had a good time. For a dry summer, course in quite good condition. Played in about 3 1/2 hrs.

Most holes you can hit you driver unless you are a big hitter. Greens are in great shape. Fairways are firm so you get a little extra run on the ball. Beautiful course.

I am glad this Club is open for public play. There are 3 courses and the "public" play is rotated among the 3 courses with the other 2 reserved daily for members. I played the "Blackheath" course. There are several "rest" stops on the course that offer free ice, cups, water, and a soda vending machine. On a hot day it is very appreciated. The staff took care of my bag on arrival and the pro shop staff was great as well.

Our usual foursome played here on 9/25/17 after finding a great, discounted rate on Golfnow. The course was about an hour drive for us, but it's always nice riding to and around Williamsburg.

The course was in nice shape from tee to green, everything relatively lush after a reasonably warm summer. The conditions for our round weren't as comfortable with temps in the upper 80's and the humidity unusually high for late September. There are lots of places to get some beautiful photos around the course.

We played the Blackheath course, which I believe is the public course among the entire complex. There are 3 total courses available to play. There were plenty of water hazards to play around, but thanks to smart tee box placements they didn't really factor into our group. The course is also relatively flat and wide open. It surely isn't an overly difficult course if you play the appropriate tees, but that's what makes for an enjoyable round.

Every staff member, from the clubhouse to the starter, were very helpful and friendly. We were running a bit late and had to grab a biscuit from the onsite restaurant, it was kind of expensive ($6), but hot and tasty. There are several restrooms around the course, offering soda machines and water fountains with ice makers. They all came in handy for our hot round and were much appreciated.

Our only complaint was that if you didn't stay in the fairway it became a chore at times to find your golf ball in the rough, even if you saw where it landed. It's very thick and deep. But hey, you know what you have to do there. There were also some speed discrepancies between greens- some were lightning fast and others were really slow.

If this course was 20-30 minutes closer to Richmond we'd play it several times per season, but I also don't doubt we'll return again at some point. It's a fun and scenic course with lots to offer.

The course is fair, challenging, and aesthetically beautiful.

We liked the greens, the fairways,the layout. At the price we paid, it was a complete steal

This course is fabulous, great layout, good condition of fairways. Good speed of plat.

Would have been extraordinary if thé greens would been putable. They were very bumpy

The course was in great condition also greens and fairway outstanding!

Enjoyed the new greens. Not to difficult but challenging. Car path only rule because of recent rainfall was the only complaint.

BUT greens were very will marked up with ball divets.
