About
Whispering Firs Golf Club is one of two courses operated by Joint Base Lewis McChord. The other course, Eagles Pride, is located southwest of Whispering Firs. Designed by Bob Baldock in 1962, Whispering Firs opened on what was then McChord Air Force Base and later became part of Joint Base Lewis McChord. Though it's a military golf course, it's open to the public but don't forget to check in with security at the visitor's center. The layout features well manicured fairways lined with mature trees and challenging rough. The small greens demand accuracy and are made even more difficult with strategically placed bunkers framing the edges. There are some tough doglegs that require conservative play, and water hazards come into play as well. Whispering Firs Golf Club will test a variety of skills but it's not an overly punishing course. Players of all skill levels will be able to enjoy a round here.

Whispering Firs
Fun course to play. The course is in great shape and well laid out. Good course for all levels of players.
Ants and gophers
Fun core is great layout. The greens are in great shape. But the fairways are just riddled with gophers. And the greens are speckled with ants. Be nice if they can get these things under control.
Fun to play.
Fairways were well watered. Greens putt true. Ball washers on every hole is nice. Some courses don't have them.
Don’t waste your time
Much nicer courses in better condition in the area. Not to mention if you don’t have a second form of ID, you’re not gonna get on the base which of course is located.
Nice course.
I really like the course. Food is good. Don't show up 5 minutes early! A young soldier had a food and beverage from the restaurant so it is clear he was early. J** at the pro shop was totally rude. He said you should have been here 30 minutes before your tee time and since the other golfers were, he sent them out. He said he might not be able to play. There was no one at the first hole and he was able to go. The young man kept a great attitude and the only thing he said was that he wasn't late. Luckily the rest of the staff is wonderful.
