Whispering Firs Golf Club

About
Whispering Firs Golf Club is one of two courses operated by Joint Base Lewis McChord. The other course, Eagles Pride, is located southwest of Whispering Firs. Designed by Bob Baldock in 1962, Whispering Firs opened on what was then McChord Air Force Base and later became part of Joint Base Lewis McChord. Though it's a military golf course, it's open to the public but don't forget to check in with security at the visitor's center. The layout features well manicured fairways lined with mature trees and challenging rough. The small greens demand accuracy and are made even more difficult with strategically placed bunkers framing the edges. There are some tough doglegs that require conservative play, and water hazards come into play as well. Whispering Firs Golf Club will test a variety of skills but it's not an overly punishing course. Players of all skill levels will be able to enjoy a round here.

Funtastic
Great day with friends at a player friendly course
Bang for bucks, pro shop staff was rude.
I booked the round on golf now, as it was a good deal. Once I checked in, I asked the old gentleman at pro shop that were the restrooms were. He gave me directions. When I came out of the restroom, I was surprised to see that the pro shop guy was going through my bag, like some kind of security check. I didn’t appreciate that but decided not to say anything. And just went to the first tee box.
Value
I’m an id card holder and golf now charges 61 dollars today when if I were to call the course itself I’d only have to pay 51 dang golf now you screwed me on 10 bucks. There should be a military option. And another thing your hot deals suck anymore you need to have more single player tee times and early in the morning like in previous years. In other words golf now is really dropping the ball on veterans and going down hill
Great price for the money
Course was in good condition. Greens were slow but run true. Lots of challenges with tree lined fairways.
Not able to approach golf club house.
our team could not able to pass the gate of the us air force before the golf club. We are foreigners and I booked though the golfnow.com. But I was not warned about the requirement to get through the gate. Only us citizens can go in. Foreigners like us were denied at the gate. This is fine and no problem at all. But we were not able to get an answer about refund policy at the gate or from the golf club. So I left our booking info and a note about this happening in the website golfnow.com. I will wait an answer from golfnow.com.
Nice and challenging
Overall good conditioned and challenging course. A couple slow foursomes in front , but fortunately they quit after 9. No rangers to monitor play.
Need toknow
Bring ID, car insurance and registration and go early! Little did we know about these things which prevented us from getting through the gate and golfing.
Always great
Love playing here, excited for another $25 round with a cart! Just go and play
Playing whispering furs
The course was in great shape. The greens were semi fast.
The rough was well maintained. Great food love the steak. Burrito staff were excellent. The soldiers at the gate were professional.
And friendelete
