Prairie Woods Golf Course
About
Prairie Woods Golf Course tumbles across some of Wisconsin's most rolling terrain. On almost any point on the course, whether you're standing on the tees, the fairways, or the greens, the undulating landscape will put your skills of perception to the test. The golf course offers plenty of variety with a unique design on each hole. The rolling hills determined the strategic placement of the bunkers and there are water hazards coming into play on several holes. It's a layout that will keep you on your toes and reward a well thought-out shot, but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. The golf course is just over 6,000 yards from the back tees but the changes in elevation can make it feel longer. Besides being one of the most unique rounds in the area, Prairie Woods G.C. is also one of the most affordable.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Wisconsin (2015 #18)
Reviews
A lot of fun!
I live outside of Madison, and have many golfing friends in the Chicago area. This course is exactly half way between the two. We have been unable to find a course this nice for the cost of play. We play there at least 2 to 3 times a year. We have paid more for a lesser quality course
Probably Last Round of the year...
Great autumn golf round. Staff excellent and course in very nice condition. Very serene and variety of holes makes for an interesting round no matter the time of year. Highly recommend.
Nice course
Very nice course. Terrific elevation changes which leads to many very interesting holes. Conditions were mostly excellent, except on some of the holes, the rims of the holes were elongated. I attribute this to being late fall and they are probably not re-locating them regularly. Otherwise very nice. Not overly long.
Prairie Woods GolfCourse
Always enjoy playing there. Excellent conditioned, interesting layout and friendly staff..
Fun Layout
The course is well kept aside from some pins that need to be moved. The fairways were nice as long as you could find them! The layout is challenging because it isn't your normal Wisconsin 18 all strait and lined with trees. This was dog leg city. Thinking on the tee was normal. Large trees in play if you play a draw or a fade, depending on the hole. Greens were nice, rolled true. Not many ball marks were repaired however. If you can control your driver, you should be fine. Any falter with the driver will put you in for a large score on the hole. I'd play here again.
I like this place
The course, the food and the practice area, This course covers all the bases. I like to go an hour early and work on my putting and chipping. I do use the driving range to loosen up as well. After a great round of golf I can't leave the course without having a chicken salad sandwich, the end of a great day..
family run and a hidden gem!!!
food, course conditions and the staff's friendliness make this our new favorite course...and it's 60 miles away!!
Very good except one or two things
the course is amazing, first time there and I shot an 89 and it was only my second time out this season. I mean some holes are kinda tough but it's a fun course until we got behind some new girl golfer that really took their sweet time and didn't even do that great at all! So no ranger really sucked cause it was 15 mins between shots cause they just didn't let anyone pass and got 4 groups behind them waiting so that made me mad and messed up my game cause I was doing very good till then I started getting double bogeys cause I was waiting so long from each hit. Plus getting really thirsty cause no cart girl was coming around, i would play again only IF! AN I MEAN IF! they get a ranger to get these noobs to play faster otherwise whats the point in going back if that will happen again!!
Great day for golf!
We went out early to avoid the heat. The course was well taken care of. We finished 18 holes in 3 hours. Great day for golf! Prices reasonable.
