Inniscrone Golf Club
About
Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale is one of the toughest public courses in the area. It is a formidable challenge to say the least, but an enjoyable one. None of the holes run parallel to each other and no two holes are alike either. The greens have quite a bit of variation from one to the next but mostly they are very large and extremely fast. Although the greens only have mild contouring, the rippling landscape still provides plenty of challenges throughout. Strategically placed bunkers perfectly complement the dramatic elevation changes, ranging from pot bunkers to vast expanses of sand. Inniscrone Golf Club's ninth hole is a memorable one since it encapsulates the course's appeal with a ridge of cross-bunkers just off the tee and even more along the left side.

something different
I was given the most detailed instructions on how to play here vs "other courses". Greens could use some maintenance as well as player etiquette. Ball marks shoe scuff marks. Monday tee time and it appeared the cups had been in place for at least 4 days. Sand traps were horrendous. It is given, rain is hard on them, but not one had been edged this year nor raked after the rainfall the prior night. Purchased a bucket to hit and we're instructed how to use the machine with the tokens. Really? Not one ball in unit. Back to the club for instructions to hit those left over there. No ranger. Grass in some places 8 inches long. Course was not wet but very moist and played long. If you like to bomb it and have fair control you can score ok. For beginners it will claim alot of your golf balls. The more wind the more it will claim. Lastly, every cart on the course needed to be cleaned. I noticed several with bald tires and the one I was issued felt like the steering linkage was going to fall apart at any time. Honestly, I really don't think anyone associated with the course cares enough to try to improve the place. I played it once and sincerely state, I'll never mention going back to my golf buddies.
Moellerdad
You need an on course marshal to keep the pace. One threesome backed up the entire course. 3 groups on tee at one time.
Hurry up and wait.
Could be excellent!
Nice course in pretty good shape. It could be excellent but it looks like many golfers there don't repair ball marks on the greens and divots in the fairways.A couple holes are very challenging.
Must play if you're a good player
Very friendly staff all the way from the car, to back to the car. The course is very demanding, " exacting" but rewards good shots. The greens are bent grass and in very good to outstanding shape. Certainly one of the toughest tests in the Philadelphia area. If you are a player, it's a must play.
Inniscrone
Course was in good shape and played long. Greens rolled good, a lot of ball/pitch marks, but that is not maintance issue. Players are too lazy or don't know how to fix their ball marks . Overall, great course for the money with a challenging layout.
Great course
Great course, looks easier than it really is. Good test of a lot of different shots. Only drawback of the course can be the smell from the surrounding area
Slow play
Course conditions were better than previous reviews suggested. Challenging layout. I enjoyed the course. However, there were no Marshals on the course. The threesome ahead fell far behind and caused a big backup on the course. No course map on the scorecard. Course not marked well for yardage.
Great course for the price
Great course for the price! it was previously private, but recently became public
Nice Course
It was first time that I played this course. Probably would have been better if I knew course. Greens are very fast. Conditions are very good.
Inniscrone
Everything about the course itself was excellent. However, I found that once the staff finds out you have reserved a tee time through golfnow.com they immediately treat you very different than players paying the full amount. The gentlemen behind the counter became very sarcastic and rude when he found out.
First time out in 2 years
Had a wonderful experience for the first time out in 2 years . I used to play 1 a week but having kids changes your whole world. The staff was extremely friendly . The price was great $50 with cart & a large bucket of balls for driving range which is right next to club house & 1st tee. The course was pretty greatly manicured the boxes fairways & greens & traps The course was long & the rough was tall Scottish style rough . The hardest thing was the greens as I said greatly manicured put insanely fast & difficult to read. Otherwise great experience & will definitely play again. Hope this helps.
Great Course. In great shape
Course was in great shape. Always very satisfied when I go here. Challenging course
Challenging Course
This course will test your patience in many ways. I like the course layout, as it does have some pleasant views (except for some of the developments on the back nine under construction). The course gets a fair amount of foot traffic on the greens, so sometimes they do not run true. If you can get a good deal on the course, it is worth the effort if you are up for the challenge. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend $50. However, it can be a fun course, and the crews I've been paired up to play with have always been courteous, friendly, and interesting.
Tough course
Even though this course was difficult, it was fun playing -would have liked gps on cart. The only downfall was seeing a family on the cart path walking w their children & dog. With the hills, it was impossible to see them-they could have been hurt w our golf shots.
Worth the drive
Course is challenging but fair if played from the proper tees. Lots of blind shots, so make sure to take a quick look before your shot. Folks need to repair more ball marks as the greens (while they ran great) had way too many ball marks that have not healed. The staff was very accommodating. The only food available are hot dogs in the pro shop. (:
Beautiful Design- needs improvement.
Since management has changed, the course has seemed to lose some traction.
It used to be flawless, perfect.
In order for me to make the tee time I booked, I was pressed on time so I called ahead to get the wifi password for he clubhouse so that I was able to telecommute from the clubhouse on the 2nd floor which was very helpful.
I love playing there. The course is very challenging. Once you play it a couple of times, it's very fun to play aggressively.
Needs some work on the tee boxes and greens! Too many divets.
Can be fixed! Just need to do it!
So Much Potential
This course has a great layout. The conditions and maintenance are below where it should be. If I lived closer I'd play a lot more here. I'd love to have played this place in it's 'hey-day'.
Nice course
Overall this is a nice course. However, the fairways lack yardage markers. The only markers are the 150 stakes.
Beautiful Course
I keep coming back to play this fine golf course despite the pro shop staff getting grumpier and grumpier each time.
Great Saturday
Pace of play was excellent. Course was in excellent shape. My buddies complained a bit about the sand being hard...by some miracle I avoided sand the entire day so I can't speak to it personally . This course is tough by my standards...newbies should bring plenty of balls.
