The Club at Lac La Belle

This course was added to a Grand Geneva golf weekend as a what the heck thing to do for friday. The place was spectacular. Course was in perfect condition, and beautiful on top of that. Clubhouse was great, with the course history represented all over the place. Nice pro shop, with great staff. We had a large group with the whole gambit of skills and abilities and everyone raved about this course. It is a little pricey, but I think it was worth the money, and I think it was the best of the 4 courses we golfed over the weekend.

My husband and I have played here almost a dozen times in the past 2-3 years. Today when we came to the first tee we met the Starter JOHN. He was amazing! So informative, kind and I could tell he truly enjoyed being there. As we came to the first Par 3 #3 John turned to us from #1 and asked “How’s everything going”? Are you enjoying the course. I was so surprised I replied yes, thank you for asking.

John was so genuine to us and wanted us to have a great day at Lac la Belle. It’s moments like this that we want to be part of. We have many choices where we can play golf we choose courses based on the challenge of the course, cleanliness of the property and the people who we interact with on the staff. So to the entire team at Lac La Belle THANK YOU for your kindness and professionalism!

Really enjoyed the round. Conditions were terrific. Greens are very very difficult if ball isn’t on the right level. A few are borderline ridiculous. 18 for sure. People and staff are on point with customer service. My only complaint is the price point. 165 $ green fees I get but to charge 35$ each for a cart is going to far. We played The Bog yesterday for 95$ with a cart. I’ve played Torrey Pines and it’s not much more My only suggestion

This was probably my 12th time playing the course. And every time I play it I think the conditions get better. The only reason that I gave Course conditions a four-star is because it’s very early in the season and everything is coming to life. Come middle of summer, I’m sure it will be a five star like it has been in the past.

Great course and staff! Fun round with very interesting greens. I booked through Golf Now and club did not acknowledge Golf Now rate or final charge.

Every time I visit Wisconsin, I visit a new course that exceeds my high expectations. This time it was Lac la Belle. I chased the sun during a solo twilight round before catching up to a pair of locals who couldn't have been nicer in letting me join. I'd consider it among the top 10 "most fun" courses I've ever played (out of 1,100). The drive into rural Wisconsin is well worth it.

This is a great course! Great layout! Staff is tremendous and friendly. I had only a few comments regarding the facility, not complaints but just puzzling. When you arrive your bags are placed on carts and bought up by driving range, and key is removed and not given to you until 15 before tee time, Range is right there so no biggie, but chipping and main putting green quite a walk. And I guess they only want you to use those 15 minutes prior to tee time. I don’t get why they want to hold your cart near the range. Also the greens here are very good, fast, (not to fast) and huge, with many tiers. If you are not a good putter you will find these greens difficult. Playing for the first time, I wish the GPS on cart would have the zoom in to green feature which would show the pin locations, but most importantly the severe slopes and tiers these greens have. This would be most helpful on your approach shots. I thought the pins were very fair this day except for the 18th. One of the nicest and toughest holes on the course, greens keeper didn’t need to put cup on top of mound . From the fairway almost impossible to get within 20 feet . And if below this pin, an almost impossible 2 putt. All this being said , I still wound love to come back and play again. I’m like most golfers, that like a great challenging golf course!

Have played golf all over the country and this course was amazing and so well kept. The staff was friend and very welcoming/accommodating. Would recommend it to any level.of player.

Our experience was awesome from the start. We were greeted by bag boys upon arrival who gave us a brief run down of how to get to the golf shop and men's locker room. The Director of Golf , Clint greeted us and made us feel as if we were Rock stars. Clint was kind enough to share the history of the course and get us set up for the day. We had ample time to practice and the starter got us directions to first tee and gave us rules for the day. The pace of play was good as it took us about 4 to play. The course was in great shape and we were very impressed with the layout. Beverage cart girl was available about every 3 holes if needed and on a hot day that was most important. We stopped into the bar after for food and drinks and again the staff (Megan) was wonderful. I can't say enough good about our experience. This was well worth the 1.5 hour drive from Rockford, Illinois. My group will be back and spread the word about this wonderful experience.

The staff at Lac La Belle was amazing! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful and truly wanted to make sure our round was fantastic. The golf course was in great shape and is a fun, challenging layout. Visually an awesome course also. Great experience!

Love LLB every time we play it. A corporate 4some with everything we needed during the round and a nice quick meal afterwards!! Thanks again, hope to see ya again soon

My golf partner and I have a new tradition of playing Lac La Belle on opening day. For the 2 of us it’s a national holiday. We clean our clubs and organize our bags the night before. We gather our new accessories that will “fix” our game. We show up early. Our game is elevated, and so is our trash talk.

As for the Lac La Belle experience: It is best described as nothing less than first class. Friendly professional staff. A full range and 18 hole putting green. The course is is equally impressive. Challenging yet playable.

The Club at Lac La Belle has been and will continue to be the perfect way for two brothers to start our golf season together.

This was our first time at Lac La Belle. We played five days before the course closed for the 2023 season. Given the late season round it was clear that the course had had a busy year. However, condition of the course was really good considering the October date. Late season pin positions were not on flat ground, somewhat expected. The severe slope on the greens here are penal. Greens are not meant to be the biggest challenge for a course. On this day they were and I believe that the redesign made the greens more problematic than they need be. Birdies were scarce as a result.

The new holes that were built for the renovation are interesting but a bit contrived given the rest of the holes from the older layout. The hazards and design of the new holes were clearly about moving earth to build a challenging and visual hole not a natural hole that is revealed by the property. Backstop greens and deep bunkers don't make the golf challenge better, it's like weight lifting. Impressive to those who enjoy it. Yet, contrived to those who don't view good golf design as macho earth moving to get tongues wagging online.

The redesign with new clubhouse and range are quite special and worth talking about. They make the experience a value given the cost. The staff was Wisconsin friendly and professional. The Morse family has built it and now they come. The food and drink at the Rivalry pub was excellent too! The people in this place are truly happy to have you spend your time and money with them. Too often not the objective of other courses staff. Spend the day at Lac La Belle.

What was lacking at Lac La Belle this late in the season? The extraordinary amount of staked areas, traffic arrows and general sense of anxiousness about the guests inability to know course etiquette in a cart. I would have thought that guests willing to spend $150 on a round would know where to drive and where not to drive on a golf course. All the stakes positioned tee-to-green completely pocked the beauty of the layout. I realize that GUR needs to be marked, but on just one hole I counted 30 stakes of various colors and sizes. At one point we thought a croquet pitch was in the middle of a fairway. If one wants to have an Instagramable image of Lac La Belle you will have to remove these candles from the cake.

On this day, pace of play was 3hours 10 mins. We were one of three groups on the course and a few walking singles. The cart GPS was accurate and easy to read. However, the abrupt cart stoppages due to a five foot incursion off the cart paths was somewhat disruptive given that we weren't even close to the aforementioned staked ground when the cart stopped. All things considered, Lac La Belle is a good course with a stunning backstory in Wisconsin golf history. You will read about it on the course plaques and signage. The Wisconsin golf trail pricing seems about right for an experience at this level. I can see this course continuing to gain in stature. It is however, not a course for high handicap players unless you can keep moving at pace with the groups in front of you. There are lots of ways to get in trouble on this course with a slightly errant shot. You need to have a solid sand game and the presence of mind to pick-up when you think you need to line up your third putt.

Congrats to Lac La Belle and the golfer who can play and enjoy there day in Wisconsin.

Played after getting 4+ inches of rain the previous 3 days was very soggy in some areas but overall great drainage. Unfortunately, it was walking only but cart fee was refunded. Talked to the starter guy a good bit and he was very friendly, as well as Claire in pro shop. Course overall is very nice layout with many challenging greens and bunker placements. Great views. Worth $140 walking? I think it's more around $80-90 personally.

This is the only review you need to read because it’s honest. We’re from Georgia and we felt right at home at this course. The course is gorgeous. It’s in fantastic shape and you can tell how much effort they put into it. We’ve all been to a gorgeous course but had a bad experience with the staff that offsets your experience. That’s not the case here. The woman in the pro shop was as kind as could be. The head pro Clint Higgins is one that this course needs to make sure stays around. Incredible experience from top to bottom, would highly recommend playing here. Thank you guys!!

Great routing of the holes with plenty of tee options to challenge any golfer’s skill level. Given the greens relative size, there is a premium in understanding where the pins are located as the cart GPS only shows distance to the middle of the greens. Only negative was the distance standards on the Par 3s today were off 4-7 yards. All departments provided top shelf service over our two day outing.
