Wet day in the end
Off and on showers til mother nature won on 15. This course was the must play on our vacation, but I do wish it was on drier day.
We did the twilight time at 330 and eventually caught up with the groups in front at the turn when it go really slow. If not for that, we might have finished before getting drenched and called it a day.
Some great holes and the course was in good shape, but I wished they would replace divots in the fairway if they dig up sod.
Wild Rock Golf Course
This is a fantastic course I love playing it. I've played it before and I'm never disappointed. The staff were very friendly and very helpful.
Great layout, beautiful elevation changes!
Really fun day of Golf. Wide fairways allow great pace of play and to score. Tons of wildlife was added bonus. One of my favorite courses in Wisconsin.
Love Wild Rock
One of my favorite courses. Challenging, but fair. Very scenic.
Challenging course
The course would be great if they took care of the greens. Lots of divots and spike marks. They do have good service with cart people every 3 holes.
Nice Course, Challenging.
The only thing keeping this from being an extremely nice course were the green conditions. They need to roll them. Very challenging, but also very bumpy and tons of ball/spike marks. Lots of very helpful people on the course. I saw a Cart person every 3 holes or so.
Fantastic course. The 5 sets of tee box options make the course perfect for any level golfer. Wide fairways make for a very enjoyable round. The course does require good club selection though as errant shots can be penalized pretty harshly.
Definitely would play here again. The rack rates are too high at $75-100 per round. Pace of play was very slow as there were a couple of beginners in front of us which might be typical due to the course location in the heart of the dells.
Overall great course.
Amazing
Best golf course I’ve played yet. Staff friendliness and availability on the course was amazing. Perfect setups and the cart girls got to us multiple times in the round. Overall this is right on par with Trappers Turn in the Dells, but gives you the better value in the long run with the price of the round. Scenery and backdrop of the hole layouts were beautiful.
Great Course, expect to be there ALL DAY.
Was the third group off in the morning. Took 5 1/2 hours to play 18. Absolutely love the course and the layout and it’s always is great condition. However, have played here 5-6 times have yet to finish a round in under 5 hours, with a couple at 5 1/2 hours. The group ahead of us took 10-15 minutes on every green, lining up every putt only to miss numerous short ones. There was a ranger on course but obviously he wasn’t doing much. Enjoy the course just don’t enjoy 5+ hour rounds.
weekday second 18 or the day
love the course, the two tiered greens are always a challenge, play from the blues stretches a not so long hitter like me
unfortunately, the pace of play was as slow as I have ever played, including 3 prior tournaments there.
Great course and conditions for early season. Was able to play immediately due to hot weather and fewer players that day.
Great track
On Golf trip with friends from Virginia. Played Wild Rock and really enjoyed it. Beautiful holes and great condition. Highly recommend.
Nice course
Beautiful course. Very challenging holes. Great quality for reasonable cost.
Wild Rock is a gem, and fun for the scratch player or the casual golfer.
I always have a blast playing Wild Rock, it’s a course with a blend of great scenery and well- designed golf holes. In general, the course is huge, and you can hit driver without too much fear on nearly every hole which makes it really fun. Golfers should be honest with themselves (and their abilities) when choosing the tee boxes to play, but the course is very fair from the tee. For the more discerning player there are plenty of challenges throughout (strategic bunkering seems to make you second guess even your layup tee shot) and I guarantee you won’t be bored as you get closer to the hole. If anything the greens and their tiers are probably some of the most challenging features of the course. Worry not however, the greens at Wild Rock are fair, not ridiculous as some courses seem to be. In addition Wild Rock has a great staff awaiting you, accurate GPS carts with huge screens, and about 11 holes that are just awesome. Elevated tees are common which makes the course even more pleasing to the eye, and helps with distance on some of the longer holes. In summary, I highly recommend this course even after having played all the “big” courses in Wisconsin. Check out Wild Rock’s website and know that the photos are not doctored and also know that you will have a very fun round of golf surrounded by nature at one of the best courses in all of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Dells Best Course
This course is by far the best one in all of Southwest Wisconsin. Nice variety of holes, excellent conditions, great practice facilities and friendly staff. I've played many of the courses in the area including Lawsonia, Trappers Turn, University Ridge and both Lake Arrowhead courses.
Top 10
One of my top 10 courses I've ever played. Beautiful layout and scenery. Only draw back on the day was the greens had been recently aerated and we were not informed ahead of time.
Challenging and Amazing Course – Rude Ranger Roy
We drove 3+ hours to play this course as a destination get away weekend to close out the golf season. Since the weather conditions were rainy and wet, the clubhouse informed us to stay 90º and cart path on all the par 3s. When you tee off the starter gives you a sheet that provides you pace of play with times you should be at those holes. In addition to your written sheet, you also have cart GPS that provides you with expected pace of play.
Our group was playing 10-11 minutes above pace and a ranger approached our group and in a very rude tone told us we better pick-up our pace because we were 2 holes behind the group in front of us. I started to politely tell him that the group in front of us was a twosome and we were a foursome playing 10 minutes above our required pace based on our sheet…I tried to show him my sheet and point that out and he gave us a dirty look and he just drove off while I was trying to talk to him.
When you pay higher green fees, you expect to enjoy yourself but also understand you don’t want to slow any groups behind you so they can likewise enjoy their round. The course is very challenging but even so, we ended up finishing our round in 3 hours and 36 minutes (14 minutes prior to clubhouse expected finish). I did let the clubhouse know about our experience with Ranger Roy but they didn’t really seem to care. In the end, we decided to eat somewhere else after our round and we canceled our following days tee time and played Trappers Turn instead.
If you haven’t played Trappers Turn located right down the road from Wild Rock you’re in for a treat! The course layout is amazing and will require you to use every club in your bag. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is excellent! Check out their website: https://www.trappersturn.com/. Our group had a blast and we’re glad we moved our tee time from Wild Rock over to Trappers Turn. We can’t wait to come back next year!
