Wild rock is a great course.
We golfed Wild Rock yesterday. My wife and I with two of our friends. The course is in great condition and a lot of the holes are very memorable. We will definitely be back to play wild rock again.
Incredible
This course was by far the best golf course I have ever been too. The fairways felt like carpet and the scenery was absolutely breath taking. Best golf experience I've ever had I can't wait to go back
good course
been there before, like the course.very friendly people working there.the course was in good shape
Wild Rock is a challenging course with great views
A challenging course requiring accuracy from tee to green. The green complexes and bunker placement place a premium on selecting the correct lines. The natural layout and beautiful views make this a visually intriguing course.
Great course
Highly recommend playing this course. Views and greens are great
Good to get back out
Always fun to play Wild Rock. Had heavy rains a couple of days before so cart path only on a few holes but not bad. Greens still feeling effects from last fall aeration..slow and a little bumpy. Early in the year and rate was good.
Wild Rock Golf Club (Wildnerness Championship Course)
The Good: Fantastic Michael Hurdzan design in the Wisconsin Dells area showcases super course conditions and some of the most challenging, undulating greens in all of Wisconsin. The "Rock" is a big, visually rugged course that in which almost every hole is secluded from the other. While enveloped in woods, the fairways are ample and the elevation changes are amazing. Super clubhouse with very nice restaurant and bar. Very nice on-course amenities including multiple restroom areas and one of the best cart GPS you will find. Strong practice facility, although it is a little ways from the Wild Rock course. Very nice staff and informative starter. Excellent Par 5's and some super Par 3's. Good value at under $100 during peak season. Off-season rates are excellent.
The Bad: Green complexes are so difficult that the average golfer will have nightmares. The practice facility and putting green is far from the opening tee. While many Par 4's are good, there isn't as much variety.
The Verdict: Wild Rock is becoming one of the true "destination" courses in Wisconsin. The crown jewel of the Wisconsin Dells area.
Best Hole: The downhill Par 5 #6 is postcard worthy. Simply stunning!
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course, especially with fall colors. Fast and undulating greens - relatively wide fairways. Approach shot placement very important or welcome to 3 putt land. Only down-side is that pace of play was a little too slow, didn't see a Marshall all day - may have helped move it along a bit. Great price on golfnow.
This course is tops on my list
This course has got to be one of the best in the state of Wisconsin. The condition is fantastic. The cement pathways are wonderful verses going over all the bumps on other courses. With all the different tee boxes you pick how you want to play. Everyone was great.
This is a fabulous course
I have played here before and will be back at least once per year. We had a great day of golf and saw many wild animals. We always see Deer and Turkeys on the course.
Very Impressed with the Course
Was excited to play here with a great day to play it. We played from the back tips for kicks to get our moneys worth only lost 2 balls all day on tees 2&3. Shot 83. Which is my handicap 11. Pace of play was slow. But rangers were trying to speed things up to no avail. We got in at last light. Course was in awesome shape. U will never play greens like these in your life. The slopes R somthing u have to C 4 your self. Love the par 3 15th. Saw tons of Deer. Will play again. Gps systems on cart awawesome.
Awesome course
Beautiful layout, I loved it. I will return here as often as I can. The course is reasonably challenging and very playable for nearly everyone from the right teebox. You probably need to play here a few times to get a feel for the various holes. The greens can be treacherous if you end up in the wrong place, I wish I had taken a few notes for the next time. Well worth the drive and the price.
A Must Play
Every avid golfer needs to play this course. Plenty tee box choices for all handicaps. No off course distractions, just you and a magnificient course.
Great views.
What a beautiful course, very well designed. Fantastic views all over. The greens were tricky with flag placement behind small green side bunkers Some greens were multi-tired which made putting down interesting.
The included practice area was very nice.
We had a great time. The Golfnow deal was FANTASTIC. Thank you Golfnow. Highly recommend. Plan on returning soon.
This is not a walking course.
Wild Rock
I have played this course from the championship tees 4X and loved the elevation changes of the course. However, I played with a group of buddies from the Shale (White tees) this past weekend and the course is much less fun without the extreme elevation changes. I would highly recommend the course from the back tee's and the second to back tee's, but would not highly recommend from the forward tee's.
Roundball 3
Enjoyed the course although it was difficult. Course was wet from recent rains, didn't get any role so course played long. Scenery was beautiful and enjoyed the wildlife.
The Rock
This is a eye pleasing course that offers some challenge from tee to green. I used the GPS to find the ideal yardage to spots in the fairways I wanted to play from. The harder issue was finding the good spot on the green to be. The pins were tucked behind the littleist pot bunkers I have seen. I do not know if they were setting it up for a tournament or if I just had the unlucky pins to shoot at. In addition to the tight pin placements, there are tiered greens to consider. Some are rather severe. I played at 2pm on a Aug afternoon. It was rather quiet and only $60 for riding. The only issue I had was not against the course or staff. It was against the thressome that was terribly slow two groups ahead of me. I literally had to wait at every shot from the 3rd hole through 18.
Wild rock
I am going to be harsh compared to the recent comments. If you are looking for a top notch, eye pleasing course, this is it. It is a post card course. I average 250 from the tee and usually shoot 87 ish. I shot an 88 and drove accordingly. I played the Black tees called shale. If your game is similar to mine these tees will test it. I was actually playing better than my score but had some lost ball strokes. This course has the ability to swallow balls up, even if you think you know where it went. Native areas come into play way more than trees. I only found one bunker and it was fluffy nice sand. The whispy grass growing around the bunkers gives it a classic feel. I do not agree with the tired greens. This place is tough enough with distance and accuracy from the tee. In addition to the tired greens, I seemed to be in line with the small pot bunkers that guard some of the pin placements. While it looks awesome, it really straps the average golfer. The tee boxes were just worked on but in decent shape. The fairways were a 8 out of 10, perfect in spots but divots and grass all over. The greens weren't marked up too bad and held pretty good. The roll was great too. At 2 pm I payed 60 with a cart and gps. Almost a steal really. Play it if you are given the chance. I will complain about the pace of play. There was a group of 3 and 2 ahead of me. As best I could tell, that was it. The group of 3 played slow, the group of 2 sprayed the ball all over, loosing a ball on every hole, but still looking for it while grinding me to a halt. It wasn't terribly rude but aggravating to wait at every tee and approach shot. Not the staffs fault, just the luck of the draw. If you are in the tee and see the group ahead of you spraying the ball, buckle up, this course will eat a group up slowing everything down.
Great Course
The course was in awesome shape. Fast greens. Multiple options for varying skill levels.
