Continues to improve
I really like this course. It is in fantastic condition now and it’s a lot of fun. The views are phenomenal. Traps could stand to be more consistent. The only thing I wish there was more of is drinking water at more frequent intervals. A great day!
Course was somewhat intimidating , having to hit over some kind of "baranka" on every hole, or so it seemed. By far the best backdrop of the courses we played during the week. It was really a great course!
Love the layout at AZ National but golf experience has been variable over the years due to ownership/management issues. Even with Troon in charge, issues remain. Waited on every shot this time with no course marshal in sight.
Never Disappointing
Course is in great shape this time of year, although the bunkers leave a bit to be desired. Kinda rocky in some and most are pretty thin. Greens were wicked quick and the fairways were very nice. No thin spots, very consistent. Hard to go wrong at this course. Even in the off season when things get a little less perfect, the greens fees are adjusted accordingly and the value remains high.
AZ National
Played on a very windy day (20-30mph winds) still had a good time. Always one of my favorite Tucson courses. Brought an out-of-town guest and after the round he said he understood why I love this course and thanked me for bringing him to AZ National. It's always in great shape and a fun challenge.
Great weather great conditions
The golf course is in fantastic shape! Greens are firm and fast. When chipping or pitching onto the green be sure to land in the fringe because the dry hot conditions are causing the ball to release more than expected. This course is one of the only ones in the area that overseed their rough. It makes the course very playable because if you miss the fairway your ball won’t be running into the desert like it would on a course that lets their rough go dormant.
Awesome course but some of the other players are grumpy
This is one of our favorite places! It is a great value in April.
Best golf course in 2 months of different courses
Pace of play was 4.5 at 130 start. Great. Don't listen to bad reviews due to this as course cannot really control this. Play alone for the beautiful views . Nice to play on grass in the fairways in rough and around greens. Greens were hard but fairly receptive. Lots of tiny peoples on greens from bunker shots Maki g ball hop on putts. Only negative is restaurant that is closed for private events and parties. When you think you can relax for a drink and something to eat afterwards you may be disappointed.
beautiful beast
I have not played here in a few years, I heard it wasn't it such great shape but what ever, it is now. Fast greens that putt purely but don't hold very well. Almost impossible to make a pitch mark. Gorgeous fairways, sand was ok and could use some sprucing up.
This course bugs me and it's not fixable; the holes are so isolated by trees and hills and the cart paths are so twisty-turny and uphill down a hill that you never really know where you are. 'The turn' is in the middle of nowhere. And most of all, even when I have played it well.(..80 to 85 for me) I always leave feeling like the course beat me up.
It's a beautiful course and it's in terrific condition, go see if it leaves you dragging butt too.
One of the better ones
This is one of the better courses to play in Arizona.. Great design with vista views and challenging to all levels. Only complaint was pace of play. Went well for a few holes, then hit a wall. It is usually one or two groups that need a “boost” by a Marshall and would make it more pleasant for all the rest of the groups. The greens were in great shape but were on the hard side so ball didn’t “bite” as well as normal. Fairways were beautiful.
Will be back.
