DeBary Golf & Country Club
About
DeBary Golf & Country Club, a Lloyd Clifton-designed course sits on hilly land. The layout is fascinating. No two holes feel similar. Only two holes have water, but there is significant sand. Dense woods of pine and evergreen border the fairways. The rolling fairways and natural layout give the golf course a Carolinas feel. The par 5s are all in the 500- to 550-yard range. The par 3s are all approximately the same distance, running 180 to 190 yards from the back tees, and 150 to 160 yards from the white tees. DeBary is one of the few Clifton golf courses that do not top out at more than 7,000 yards.

Fallen tree while we were on green. Photo submitted by tbusfbulls10 on 04/21/2013
good shape
Felt like a private course, was waved thru twice playing as a single...very courteous players. Lots o' feature, worth the drive !
Consistently good experience
Great layout with some elevation changes and very good drainage (15 in rain the past couple weeks—no problem). Greens smooth and quick — downhill and down grain... watch out. Cordial staff, nice grill room, tasty food. Easy to recommend.
Nice track - great condition, well maintained
I enjoyed the layout, the course condition was great and you can tell they are very active in their maintenance. Played from the back and it was long and challenging. It took an hour to drive there and I will definitely come back.
A Real Jewel
Our tee time was 11:05. We were behind a two ball which was having some problems on hole #1.......after their second shot, they pulled off to the side and waved us through. This was the first sign of the graciousness we would find at this course. Later, a four ball waved us through to our surprise, since they were not holding us up at all. The course was in good shape and the greens were difficult, but what a layout! Great doglegs on par 4's, undulating fast greens and a lot of well placed bunkers.
One of my favorite courses in this area is Red Tail, and I would rank Debary right up there with it. After our game, I called several friends and told them about this course.....it's 38 miles from my home in Orlando, but the trip was well worth it. I am reluctant to say how happy I was with this course, since I don't want it to become too crowded, but I have to say, my wife and I will be back with several of our friends.
still good
overall good condition, weak in spots but still early in growth season
Speedy DeBary
The course is in great shape and the greens are really rolling. The best condition I've seen this course in years...the only exception was a couple of less than stellar tee boxes...but the shape of the greens makes it all worth while.
Needs Work
lNo one at bag drop when arrived, no big problem, pro shop person not helpful or friendly. Range and Range balls very old and no marked. Putting green fine. No water on the course and no cart person. This is Florida need water stations badly.
I was expecting a lot more from Club Corp operation and did not get it. Club house run down with unfriendly staff.
Great Staff
I would rank the actual conditions between 3 and 4. Conditions are pretty good.....and thats about. However, the greens were outdtanding which brought 4 stars on course condition. Greens rolled true and were very very fast. With that said, i gave overall 5 stars because the staff and the hills. You dont see many hills in Florida courses, so this was a treat. Nice elevation changes. As for the staff, everybody from the cart guy, to the beverage cart girl to the restaurant were all amazing and seemed glad that we were there. Excellent restaurant. Will play again very soon.
Great lay-out, challenging course
Course is tougher than expected, mainly due to elevated greens, very little bump and run here. This feature made the course challenging but fair and fun to play. Fairways and tees are good, greens are excellent, very good value.
Tough course in the wind
Course was in really really good shape. Dry and fast and on windy day it kicked my butt a bit.
Excellent layout, great conditions, nice staff.
best course in florida for the money
this is the best golf course in florida for the money. course is in great shape and the greens are fast.
S=L=O=W
Our group likes to play mornings and in most cases thats not a problem. BUT this is about the third time we've played here and regardless if you have t-time or not, if some of the "members" want to play they just jump in front of you and you wait. To add insult to injury, they act like they own the place, and they probably do, so...they take their sweet time and you're in for 5 plus hours. Hope you got all day. We're going to try afternoons next time and see if that works better.
Great greens
Fast and true, takes total concentration in your putting, very challenging.
worth the drive
nice greens, great design, always a pleasure to play.
Surprisingly very good, well maintained.
This has always been a hidden gem to me, but this time I was really surprised how good the conditions were. Tee boxes and fairways well kept, bunkers very good and greens rather fast and true. Excellent pace, even though there was a skin game in front of us and the twosome we followed – 3 ½ hours for a twosome. Very good work done on the green 16… Overall it is an interesting track, with some hidden difficulties – course knowledge helps! – and this all for a very good price, thanks to a hot deal offered by Golfnow.
Very Good Course - Enjoyed the Round
Always enjoy playing here. Great layout - challenging, but fair. Only issue was pace of play. The three of us were sent out after we thought a league was finished playing, but ran into them and for about 8 holes, the pace of play was beyond slow. These guys gave new meaning to slow play. Still, it didn't ruin the day. Fairways had not yet totally come in green, but greens were very good. Will return again next year when I come visiting this way.
Course Continues to Give Reasons Not to Come Back
This past weekend, there was a tournament scheduled with no prior notification. We didn't find out until we checked in.
The course then closed the range two hours early and we were left without a chance to hit balls and properly warm up.
They then rushed us (and everyone else) out to the tee box where we all just sat and waited. Since the course disregarded tee times and pushed everyone out one after another, pace of play was terrible all day, and we all waited on every hole and almost every shot.
On top of all this, after our first four holes, they moved up all the tee boxes for the tournament, forcing everyone else to tee off from the grey markers.
What a poor experience and this is not the first time we have had an experience like this. Not sure when or if I'll come back. I would hesitate to recommend this course to anyone.
