The Legends at Orange Lake Resort

Played the Legends course several times this week. Easy check in process, pace of play very good, staff friendly. I enjoyed the course and the layout was interesting for a Florida course. That said, the greens were in poor shape, many bare patches, weeds growing in spots, etc. Sad to see on a nice course. But the prices were very reasonable, so it made it a decent deal. If they get the greens in order, would be 4 stars.

the greens are disgraceful, worst i've ever played on. The course layout is great and i've played this course regularly when in Florida, but will not be playing again due to state of greens and appaling attitude of staff

Good layout. To bad the greens were not in very good shape. Fairways were very nice. Won't be back until they fix the greens.

I had the opportunity to play in a scramble at The Legends this past weekend. I had never played the course but heard some good things in the past. The layout was very nice and challenging, but the condition of the greens made it quite difficult to enjoy. Luckily we were in a scramble and had some options to choose from. I would be interested in playing the course again when the greens were in good shape.

Dropped my clubs at the bag drop, I was told that they had just punched the greens a few days ago. Normally the courses listed on Golfnow indicate the aeration alert icon but there wasn't on my selected Hot Deal.

I have always enjoyed playing this course in the past and after a long layoff from playing due to a couple of back surgeries, I was so dissapppointed to hear about the conditions. To make matters even worse is when I entered the proshop to check in, I was kept waiting at the counter while the person there kept talking on the phone. When he finally did acknowledge me, he asked me what my Golfnow time was & after I told him, he tells me that I'm late. Mind you that the course was pretty empty that day & I was there on time until I had to wait for him to get off the phone to check me in.

I took his attitude in stride but I did mention that I heard that the greens were just recently punched but there was no Alert on their Golfnow tee times listed. He just shrugged off what I told him without any kind of apology & said he has to report that to his Mgr.

Loved the layout of this Arnold Palmer design. Course fairways a bit thin but no bad lies. Greens had just been aerated and I had no knowiedge prior. Greens were very bad. Looked diseased and had additional problems - large bare spots and indentations. Greeter named Travis was very good.

Aerating greens, no notice by course, but the greens have not been maintained, large dead areas. Meal deal is a joke, only choices are a chicken salad or ham sandwich. Played this since it opened, won't recommend nor return.

We played this course yesterday, 3 of us booking through Golf Now, 2 through the course directly. We booked the 8:30 tee time through Golf Now, at a price of $36.95 plus fees. The two others called Friday and booked the 8:39 time directly behind us, and were quoted $60 on the phone, and were told the course was in great condition. We arrived Saturday morning, thinking we had a great deal with Golf Now, paid it, and went to the range. After us, the two others who booked through the course were told at the counter the greens were aerated last week and the discounted price was $25. (We were told NONE of that when we checked in for the 8:30 time.)

We had played this course multiple times in the past, with great experiences each time. The blatant misinformation given on the phone, combined with the unplayable condition of the greens will most likely make this our last trip out there, unless big changes are made.

The table next to us at lunch said it best when they turned to us and asked, "What has happened to this place?"

I'm a reasonable golfing dad who has thoroughly enjoyed playing his way around his 192/us27/I4 vacations for the past 10 years.

I've played 7 courses in the past 10 days and I can see that the recent weather and the nematodes have made for tricky course maintainence.

This is a golf course for proper golfers . It's a tremendously well thought out course - lovely to have to hit a long iron over water on a few of the par 4's . The par threes are memorable.

Some other courses look too manicured , some give you free bottles of water suncream some GPS and driving range balls- none of this blinkers me to -the lack of thought in design. I will play this one every time I'm in the area.

I'd hope that the owners push this course to look and play as it was created rather than have it wither on the vine. Even the beautiful need touch ups.

One unnecessary charge is the riders $26 fee .Mercifully the excellent pro shop staff handled a difficult situation well today.

3 more rounds then it's back to the daily grind - I'll book one of them here at Legends for sure.

I live in Myrtle Beach and always try and play this course when in Orlando area.

Booking it as a HOT DEAL on Golfnow was sweet savings.

Almost 100 degrees and we still had fun.

The greens were full of weeds, bare spots, and on a couple of greens there were actual holes. 18 green had a hole about 9 inches long and 2 inches wide about 1/2 inch deep. Not fresh - had clearly been there at least a day or two. Staff at bag drop were rude and unfriendly. Guy was very rude when we declined to have him clean out clubs after the round.

This well designed layout is challenging. Well positioned tee shots will reward the golfer, but errant tee shots will make for a long day. The fairway lies were perfect, greens rolled true.

The only negatives - no towels for the carts; and the greens suffered some spotty damage.

I wish lazy players would fix ball markers and rake traps.

We played the legend because it was rated as a 4 star out of 5. The course is in poor condition and the green are spotty at best. We also played the reserves the next day and it is in worse condition than the legend course.

Looked forward to playing this Mr Palmer design and would say the layout was nice but, whatever this course was....it isn't anymore. Staff not to friendly. Greens were some of the worst I've played in the over 20 years of playing around the world. Only really good conditions were the waste bunkers. Holiday inn resorts should be ashamed of themselves.

Arrived to be informed that I was first to play after maintenance work but despite this greens staff had blown sand away from cups so putting was ok and greens were true and reasonably quick considering maintenance work undertaken. I always enjoy playing this course (3rd or 4th time) and this was exception. A great challenge depending on tee selection and a great layout. Will play again on my next visit. Certainly recommend the course and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Maintenance, turf, and quality of greens are well below average for courses in the Orlando area. The other courses at this location might be in better shape. I doubt I will play at Orange Lake Resort again.

Conditions make or break a golf course. And in this case, unfortunately, it's the latter. Not sure what happened to what used to be one of my favorite courses. Please fix it!! Crabgrass all over the greens, fairways and bonkers in mediocre shape.

Check-in at bag drop service is great. Check-in at the pro shop was great. Layout is great. Greens are in terrible shape. They were just plugged and sanded, but you could tell that they lost them this winter. I paid $29.00 for early morning tee time. With the condition of the greens I would not pay anymore then that. Close the course and redo the greens.
