The Legends at Orange Lake Resort
About
Orange Lake Resort & Country Club in Kissimmee boasts four different golf courses, two championship courses and two nine-hole layouts. Undoubtedly, the most popular course is the Legends. This Arnold Palmer-designed layout is like getting two courses in one. The front nine is a traditional links that is wide-open and windy, which makes club selection particularly challenging. It is a good warm-up for the even more demanding back nine. On the backside, you will be playing through mature oaks and towering pine trees that border the lush, winding fairways. It is quite a feat to successfully maneuver your tee shots through the narrow openings of the trees, which gives it the feel of a course in North Carolina. The signature hole is the 13th. This daunting hole features a large green that is shielded by a rock wall, surrounded by tall grass, and protected in back by a sand trap.

Need a Starter
We arrived 30 min's early as a 2 ball and the starter said we could start straight away as the tee was empty. He was correct there as no one was in sight. When we reached the 2nd tee there was a 4 ball waiting to tee off, and when we reached the 3rd, a par 3, there were two 4 balls waiting and a 4 ball on the green. A note on the cart says you can expect w 4 1/2 hour round as it is a resort course. However after 4 1/2 hours we still had 4 holes to play. This is not the way to encourage people to return and they certainly spoilt our day and certainly need to employ a better starter and a ranger. To make matters worse, I lost to the wife.
Good course layout
Enjoyed our game over the Legends . Played with another couple from Canada. Different standard of golfers but we all enjoyed the course. Played the fourball in approximately 4 hours.
Discounted Price made it tolerable
Golf Now booking price made playing this course tolerable. Paying the $79 course fee is definitely NOT worth the price.
Good layout, but could use some upgrades
Fun track and challenging layout. The greens and overall course condition was fair.
good golf experience
As some of the previous reviews report, the course is browned out to a degree. But so what. The layout is really fine. Fairways are extremely playable. It does seem like if it were watered and the greens were more closely regarded, it would be a really fine golf course. Im sure the regular rate is probably over 100.00. At that price, it needs more attention. But since everyone here is a golf now participant the price is probably good. I would play here again. Im vacationing and played as a single. I got paired up with two really good players so it went swimmingly. I would recommend it highly at a golf now price. Not a walkers course unless youre a triathlete. (btw, im male. incorrect profile)
Orange Lk Legends
Great course and challenging also. Highly recommend this course.
Not great value
Played this course for the second time whilst on holiday there from the UK. And like others say, the quality has gone down. It is not as bad as some are making out and whilst the condition of the grass on the greens are not great, they do run mostly true.
However there was often unraked footmarks in most bunkers plus a few pitch marks on the greens.
Also it is not great value for money. The Sunday I got to the resort I was given a new pricing sheet where the rates had come down, but when I turned up to play on Wednesday that was mysteriously no longer available.
Also I was charged 60 dollars for the hire clubs, and I am pretty sure they were the same set I got when I came 2 years ago. But now the heads of the woods and putter were in an awful condition with a lot of the paint chipped off..Plus no hybrid. I doubt the set was worth 60 dollars in total the state it was in. Plus the bucket of balls for the range was very expensive.
I'd say if you can get a tee time for 50 dollars and you have your own clubs then it is worth playing. But if you are paying the advertised green fee and especially if you need to hire then there are much better options near by.
Awesome Track
This course has gone through some distress because water pumps did not get fixed promptly and I was told owner/ manager stopped putting the nesssary funds into it when the course needed. With that being said , the course is said to be coming back in shape. I hope so , because this Arnold Palmer design is amazing course .
hard to believe
I took a group of 8 golfers to the Ledgends because we had heard it was a great course. I cannot believe how bad this course has become. If they would just water it could have been much better. They have let everything go. Still charging top dollar for a the worse course in the Orlando area. Don't golf this course!
Legends at OL
Greens were in very poor shape, fairways burnt out with scratchy lies. not much grass in fairways. Pace of play was 4hours 45 minutes but the first four holes were fine. Resort course with all levels of golfers playing. Staff at starters table were very good and got me out a bit ahead of my tee time with another group. Price on Golf Now was great and made the round more attractive.
Not up to par
First several greens had been punched. No mention beforehand. Course extremely dried out and overall condition far worse than when first played four years ago. Not at all comparable to other similarly priced courses in the area. Choose to play elsewhere this year at least. Probably won't be back. Also, phone system for making arrangements gets you to a central call center that is clueless.
Nice Layout, poor greens
The course layout is nice and I can tell it once was a great place. Unfortunately the greens were in pretty bad shape as was the tee boxes. The practice green was horrible. This course is not close to being worth $90. I got a hot deal at $35 so I wasn't that disappointed. On the positive side, the staff was fantastic, the restaurant was also nice and the course layout was very fun to play. This course has some awesome holes, more so on the back nine. If they put some money into the greens this place would be frequent stop for me when I'm in Orlando, but it's certainly not worth more than $40 at this time.
Poor condition
I have played here many times over the last 10 years and this was the worst condition it has ever been. The fairways were burned out and the greens were bumpy and in poor condition.
The ranger explained to us that some of the stupid pin placements were the result of workers who do not play or understand golf.
The bottom line is that course needs someone who knows how to grow grass instead of just mowing grass.
Very disappointed.
Brown conditions fairways
Was a little surprised to see course conditions not as pristine as last time I
Played their. Greens were a little bumpy, grass was less than before, but all and all wasn't that bad. Just not as pristine. .........
Extremely bad shape
This course was rated a four star and the conditions were more like a cow pasture. Greens looked like they have not been maintained in months. We played Championsgate, Orange County and Falcon's Fire which all played as promised.
I have never walked off a course not finishing but I was so disappointed we left after playing only four holes. Spoke with starter/staff and no refund offered just "sorry we ruined your day, but we get a lot of play".
Oregon golfer
I like Arnold's courses. Not too long and some short holes. However, this one does not have a short Par 3. I would play it again.
ITS BEEN IN BETTER SHAPE
I've played this course every year for the past 25+ years and this is the roughest I've seen it. The T-boxes are in rough shape, the fairways were sparse in some areas and the greens were patchy and bare in spots. Staff told us the Reserve greens were in much better shape which is rare. It was Easter Sunday so the pace was great with only 34 or so golfers on the course.
Well maintained and interesting course.
Don’t get some reviews here. Did they play another course at the Orange Lake? The Legends course is very nice. Good and interesting and not easy layout. Tee boxes and fairways in rather very good condition. Bunkers may need some attention, but are mostly good too. Greens are rather fast and clean. Staff is very friendly. Overall this is really one of the better places to go in Orlando. Well organized – beverage cart and player’s assistant on course. Staff is present and helpful at the bag drop. Everything the right way – really cannot understand why some “reviewers” complain here…
First time... Will return
First time playing here. Fun course, friendly staff, and plenty of driving (the cart). Long distances between holes. Course was in pretty shape. Over all we enjoyed it,
