The Legends at Orange Lake Resort
About
Orange Lake Resort & Country Club in Kissimmee boasts four different golf courses, two championship courses and two nine-hole layouts. Undoubtedly, the most popular course is the Legends. This Arnold Palmer-designed layout is like getting two courses in one. The front nine is a traditional links that is wide-open and windy, which makes club selection particularly challenging. It is a good warm-up for the even more demanding back nine. On the backside, you will be playing through mature oaks and towering pine trees that border the lush, winding fairways. It is quite a feat to successfully maneuver your tee shots through the narrow openings of the trees, which gives it the feel of a course in North Carolina. The signature hole is the 13th. This daunting hole features a large green that is shielded by a rock wall, surrounded by tall grass, and protected in back by a sand trap.

Challenges at the Legends
Great course, well laid out and had a variety of challenges such as water, long par 5's, doglegs that made first shot placement important and interesting elevation changes. Fairways were lush, greens were very good and challenging rough. Pace of play was very good and only waited a few times during the round, solid 4 hour round. Wouldn't pay top rate but with the "hot deal" it made if very affordable to play.
Can be challenging for the experienced golfer and enjoyable for average golfer
The location of tee boxes makes this course challenging for the experienced golfer and enjoyable for the average golfer. Course is kept in great condition and if you use Golfnow I highly recommend it.
Poor Starter mangement
We booked as a threesome and were asked if a single could join us and of course we had no problem with that. However as we were on the tenth fairway we were approached by a marshal saying there was a complaint from the group behind us that we were holding them up. The marshal went on to say though that we had finished the front nine on time. We agreed to let the group behind to play through on 11 as we waited for them to play through a single showed up and we of course let him play through also, as we waited for him to play through another twosome showed up on the tee we of course at that point did not let them through as who knows we could have been on the 11th tee all day. As it turns out by the 15th we all were waiting on the tee blocks. Not sure why they teamed us up with a single when there were twosomes and singles behind us. The starters should have seen this and had them team up as to pushing us to play on a pace of a twosome and single. I will not play this course again or recommend it to anyone else unless they are playing it as a single or twosome.
Over Rated!
The cost to play does not measure up to the service or amenities. We paid $100 and there was no GPS on the carts! Also they did not bring our cart after we checked in, we had to walk back to the curb! They overcharge for a course that played like a $55 course. Please understand that we played Celebration, Falcon's Fire and Shingles Creek, so I think we have a reasonable understanding about what a good golf course should be. There were no towels on the either, also they over charge for their drinks. Will not play next year or recommend it either.
Great course
Course conditions were excellent and very quiet, which meant a quick round. We had the course to ourselves. It was in great shape. Course has a lot of sand, water, and many scenic holes. it is expensive, but watch GolfNow for some deals.
Nice layolut
Course was in good shape. The greens are small and some are protected by water, requiring precise shot placement. Good value with Golfnow discount.
This course has great features
These course was in great shape with greens that would hold a shot and putt great.
Great design
Excellent condition. I'm one hour away and I will return.
Nice layout
Some interesting holes provide good challenge. Course well maintained. Greens were a trifle slow. Might be because it's a resort course. I would play it again
It's Been Better
Played on Thanksgiving Day. Perfect weather. Knowing it was a holiday I should not have been surprised that they were understaffed. No cart girl/on course services. No starter. Saw a Ranger on the 7th hole and he said to take my time as the back nine was all jammed up. Course traffic was light in my opinion. I jumped the group on the 10th hole at the turn and from #11 I didn't see anyone else on the course till the 17th hole. Loved the pace. Course was in average condition. The Overseeding was coming in but it wasn't full and the course looked "splotchy" but didn't appear to effect the lay of the ball in the fairways. Note: Many courses are doing away with their GPS on the carts. Is there somewhere on a Golfnow listing where they tell you if there is GPS provided or not? Ultimately, I thought the price was NOT worth it based on the course condition and lack of amenities on this particular day.
Definitely worth a visit
First time we've played here and what an excellent track this is. Staff superb, greens equally good. Fairways tight and well groomed. Tee boxes and bunkers all in good shape. This is a tough test of accurate hitting - you don't have to be long (it does help) but there are bail outs on most holes. Look out for some gators.
great course
Course is in great condition.Greens are fair in size and fairways challenging with many bunkers and water in strategic areas.Study the lay of the land because trouble awaits you on every hole.
Didn't play as well as I wanted so it's a must go back...
very challenging but beautiful course
Lots and Lots of opportunities to work on your sand shots on this course, but if you choose to keep it straight and sacrifice distance for accuracy and keep it in the fairway, you will have a great game.
Also a very scenic course with lots of wildlife, including a couple gators!
Mr
the pace of play was excellent Sunday afternoon!
Very busy Monday with other golfers
Frustrating Round
This is one of the premier courses in the area - immaculate fairways, greens and facilities, and friendly, helpful staff.
We played the first 3 holes at an easy pace while scoring well in the process. Our twosome was then stymied by 15 to 20 minute waits. At one point 4 groups were waiting on one tee. We ended up rushing shots and not finishing some greens because we didn't want to add to the backup. Then we'd get to the next tee and the threesome ahead of us were still waiting to tee off. The ranger came by once on the front and again on the back apologizing because 3 foursomes went off in late morning and insisted on staying together, refusing to "cooperate" when the ranger asked them to speed up or let others play through.
Despite the waiting we had an enjoyable time as this course was on our bucket list. We hope to be able play it again under better circumstances.
Slow
This course is very nice, but it was way over booked we ended up leaving after 13th hole
probablY never play here again based on that alone.it made fora bad experience
Interesting and well maintained track with very good services
Played this course many times before and was wondering how it’ll be after reading some rather moderate review from last weeks. Must say, that it is still a very good course with some challenges and it is still well maintained. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers are in good condition. Greens are not too fast, but very well playable. Staff is cordial and helpful.
Overall – surely a place to go and sometimes there are excellent hot deals from golfnow…
we had pleasure play this course
many wather's obstacles
many traps
we return play at this course any time
challenging but fair
good condition overall. friendly staff. a feel good golf course.
Great Design on this course
I was disappoints sine the new management took over. First time in 12 years I saw sedge weed grass on the greens. The GPS has been taken out. Fairways use to be better. It seems to be going down on maintain the course up keep. Still one of my favorite courses.
