LOVE MUSTANG
Played Lely Resort many times, and always great experience. Will be back next trip to Naples, Fl area.
Nice course to play
Place is busy all the time Hard to get a good tee time. Men who grabbed my clubs out of the car were fair. No Welcome, No smile. Not a good start. Lady in Pro shop was terrific Smiled, friendly very nice . Great customer service skills .Welcomed us as first time players. Starter was very good. Friendly, smiled . Very welcoming.as well. Good sense of humor. Driving range was fine. Plenty of room and balls to hit. Putting green was fine as well. Course is very good Lots of water ,sand etc. Good challenge Played the Mustang Course. The only complaint I had was they need more water and ICE on course. A water cooler at 3pm on a sunny day is not going to do it, especially on only a few holes. Splurge for some ice machines or buckets for water. . Bathrooms on course. Need more but that shipped has probably already sailed. Cart person came around early in round and then went home, so we couldn't buy any drinks . Course of play was pretty good . Overall a positive experience
I had a very enjoyable day. The staff was terrific.
Average course for the money
Wow a public course in Naples that you can play thats the good news. The Mustang was no better then a good municipal course although it was by far not the worst kept course i have played.
The rocks in the sand traps is sad why Management hasnt had a sand trap renovation is ridiculous.
Expensive but nice course
of the three Lely courses this is in the middle for challenge. Most fairways wide. Greens in pretty good shape but some places with repairs. Lely course are now over $200/round. Range was closed due to rain previous night. Short area open but show its wear.
watch out for incoming
Played as a twosome with a slow foursome ahead and inconsiderate foursome behind us. Foursome behind us were in a hurry, although we were keeping pace with group ahead. Lady behind us sliced her shot through the open windshield on our cart at the fourth teebox and missed my head by 8 inches. We got an inaudible "four" and inaudible distant apology. Another time a male player rolled his 200 yd drive to my feet on the sixth hole before the palmetto hazard straight ahead. People behind us were oblivious to proper golfing etiquette. We finished out round in 4 hours.
Quick Play
I was able to play quickly and enjoy my round of golf.
The Mustang @ Lely is My New Favorite in Collier County!
When I saw a mid-morning tee time for The Mustang Course @ Lely Golf and Country Club, it was a “no-brainer” for me. Yes. It costs a little more to play than the other course I played twice, but my research said, “It’s worth it.” Boy, was it worth it! The staff at the bag drop was very nice and respectful. The staff in the pro shop was also very nice and helpful. I was paired with three other players who couldn’t have been nicer. The tee boxes and fairways were excellent. Some of the traps lacked sufficient sand and several greens had been partially re-sodded, but still had not come back. They putted well, despite their appearance. We easily played in 4 hours. They had a refreshment cart and the vendor was very friendly and considerate. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I look forward to playing there again next year. Great job, everyone!!
Initial impressions are always important
A day spoilt by an austere reception at the Proshop, they seemed uninterested that we had come to play and at $189 it was a bit of shock. Ill-stocked Proshop and poor changing facilities didn't help but the cold reception really put a dampener on our day. Very pretty course and great practise range (including free practise balls) but we just never recovered from the frankly rude way we were treated on arrival. I subsequently learned that other visitors have been treated the same....will never go back. Recommend the much more friendly Hibiscus course nearby, not the same level but such a more pleasant place to be.
