Fox Hollow Golf Club

30min delayed start for a 10.50 tee time… not sure how that’s possible. Then 2hrs50 through 9 holes! And 2hrs30 through the back 9. Absolutely ridiculous. Front nine is struggling to recover from the storm, back nine conditions much better. Great layout but won’t be back at the weekend.

The course is layout was very nice. Some of the holes were shortened due to standing water on the fairways. Although the course is very beautiful and the layout is extremely nice, it is also extremely challenging and I would not recommend for someone who is not capable of shooting the ball straight.

Our starting time was 7.15 as a twosome. We were

Told to follow another twosome which we assumed were members. Upon approaching the first tee it appeared that another twosome one of which was a Walker

Were invited to join the twosome. This made for a slower round for us and could have been avoided by letting us start first, our the group in front with the Walker let us play though. We play at a good pace and we also practice good etiquette and allow faster players to play through. Especially when play is starting early! Disappointed!

Have been a Fox Hollow fan for many years, but our 9/22/2024 experience was far below the norm. We booked a tee time on the FH web site for two, but only one got the quoted price. The other paid double, and that was booking with Tee Time. Otherwise, the pro shop would have charged more.

The course was extremely wet; 5 holes cart path only. Biggest issue was pace of play. There was a foursome so slow, 3 groups behind them waited on tee box. Later, two of those groups skipped a hole to bypass them. We got by them at the turn. Why no ranger, especially since they have 5 guys wanting to load your clubs when you arrive? The kart girl (Melanie?) was amazing!

Love the course, and while it wasn't "cart path only", balls could be/were lost in non-hazards. Personally, for the money, if rain isn't bad, maybe good by Saturday. Greens rolling quicker than recently, so that's good. You can see they're working on it, but had a lot of rain on a course which has a substantial amount of water naturally on it.

When we arrived, the course notified us that there had been 4+ inches of rain on Thursday and it was still wet (no rain in Tampa). We booked on Friday for full price, played on Sunday, and no notification of the conditions prior to arriving. Golfnow didn't pick up when we called about this, and then said since we played we weren't due a refund. What a joke of a customer service experience.

I know there's not much that can be done about the amount of rain recently, but it really made the course not very fun to play. When you hit the ball in the fairway and can't find it, that's pretty sad.

Took over 5 hours to complete our round, and when we talked to the office about it they said there was “nothing they could do”. Will not be returning

I've played this course since the 90s. It's been my go to, have to play course since my first round. It's the best layout of any course, open to the public. In the Tampa area. And I always make it a point to play there while in Tampa. I've played Innisbrook. I've played TPC. Fox Hollow has always been my favorite 🤨 but not for the near future. A course that once prided itself for their near pristine conditions has lost its way. I found the conditions to be horrible. The rough was more weedy water grass than Bermuda. Fairways were spotty and not in good shape. Bunkers had sand, but also a lot of grass growing in them. And the greens were ok but not great. I used to tell people coming to Tampa, to go play Fox Hollow. No more. Not until I'm convinced they've restored the course or have dramatically dropped their rates. WHAT A SHAME 😟
