Wyncote Golf Club
About
Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford is one of the most challenging courses in the area. The heathlands layout feels like a links course with wind being an important factor and thick fescue coming into play. The golf course starts with an especially tough front nine but there are more scoring opportunities on the back. Mounded bunkers and moguls define the movement of the fairways and though there aren't many trees, if you don't keep your shots straight you might find yourself out-of-bounds or lost in the high, wiry grass. Sidehill lies await you as well as a few blind shots. Wyncote's greens have little undulation but the lightning fast putting surfaces are a challenge for players of all skill levels. With a few "grip it and rip it" holes mixed in, Wyncote Golf Club is a tough but fair test.

First time at Wyncote
Great day, perfect weather. Staff was very professional from golf shop to the starter. The starter went above and beyond to make our experience 5 star. I would definitely come back and hopefully play better
Better than the last time
This course was pristine. Tee to green, I didn’t notice anything out of place. Fairways greens rolled, even after lots of rain. Greens were fast and true, but still receptive. The layout is beautiful and lovely to look from hole to hole seeing where you’ve been, and where you’re headed. Range facilities are also nice. I’ll be back
Beautiful Course, Tough in Wind
Well, learned just how much wind can affect the flight of a golf ball. Beautiful day but windy. Course in pristine condition as usual. Pace got really slow at times but finished quick. This course is certainly on par with Bulle Rock. Love playing here a few times every year..
Worth 2 Hour Drive from Northern Virginia
Had wanted to play this course for years & finally made the trip. Definitely a must play - even if you are 2 hours away you should make at least 2 trips a year. Greens held very well and were fast - took me front 9 to get the speed down. Fairways in excellent condition especially for August. Can't wait to play it again!
Not a true definition of a links course . Good course but over priced .
Sunday outing
Course is in great shape. Challenging. Well laid out. Staff friendly. It’s worth the trip.
Best course in the area.
This place is a championship course that is always in championship shape. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Literally the only thing bad i have to say about wyncote is that they don't have any indication as to whether the flag is front, middle or back. This is a minor annoyance.
Always amazing love this course
always an excellent course greens were amazing as always fast love fast greens would play here all the time if it wasn't an hour from me but love this course
Challenging Links course
Good design and unique for this area.
Friendly staff and course is well maintained in general.
For the money, there should have been more markers and directions
Excellent conditions and maintenance
This course is in excellent shape and is always well kept. Course is challenging, especially if you aren’t hitting fairways. The rough is dense and if you’re too wide left or right on many holes you’ll be lost in high grass/OB. Greens are in beautiful shape and roll fast/true.
Wyncote - Cart Path Only Day
I have played Wyncote 15-20 times since it originally opened. Never have I been disappointed in the course. I have been frequently disappointed in my inability to keep the ball out of the fescue. If you can hit it straight and keep it in the fairway, you will be well on your way to having a 5 star day. We played 2 days after torrential rains from the recent Tropical Storm. So cart path only was required. Fescue was high, greens were in good condition and moderate in speed, and the course overall was in surprisingly good condition after the rains. Lost ball total = 4. Still played in 4 hrs. 20 mins on a Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Wonderful course
The course is in a beautiful setting and is extremely well kept. It is a challenging course but very playable. Some of the holes are lengthy but many are manageable. The layout with long grasses led to a number of lost balls and the course requires accurate driving and iron play. The greens are in wonderful condition. I will play it again.
Well maintained tee boxes, fairways and green. Very enjoyable round, even if it was one of the hottest days of the year!
Hot and Humid
Weather was hot and humid but the course was in awesome shape. A real gem. Always try to get at least one round a year there. Definitely worth the trip especially as hot special through golf now.
Challenging layout
The course was in excellent condition. Very good layout. Not much water but a lot of tall grass.Have to plan your shots.
Customer service
Worst golf experience I’ve had in my 20 years playing golf. Group in front of us playing at 5 hour pace, dragging feet and leaving divots on ground, leaving trash on greens and fairways. Group was driving up onto greens of par 3s. There was not one ranger to be found. Try to talk to someone inside clubhouse it was a kid and he did not do anything to accommodate my foursome. Worst customer service I’ve ever seen at a course. Shame would not recommend
