Timberlane Golf & Recreation
About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

For a nice Sunday Afternoon
This was a last minute decision, I was happy to find a course close by. The saints were playing so the course was quite. Overall the course is in good condition, its a no frills club, fairly straight forward with few water hazards in play.
The club house gentleman was friendly and the the course was wide open. we started at 1:10 pm and played 15 holes due to other schedule. Will definitely return...
Wet, but Good
Since my previous review of this course, I've become a member of the club, but not a full golf member, so I don't get all the golf perks. Just a full disclosure.
Since I don't get all the perks, this course is just one of the many I play regionally. I went out on this day simply to see how the course looked and to bang balls around. August was one of the wettest months on record in the greater New Orleans area. Many courses took it on the chin with the rainfall. This one had some low spots that couldn't be traversed and some fairways that were mushy. But overall the course was in good shape. There were a couple of holes you couldn't drive on due to the wetness left over, but overall the course was nice.
Great layout and good value for price!
Great layout, average course conditions, and slow pace of play. The design of the course alone will bring me back in the future. Also we got on the course for $18 and you can't beat that price!
Worth the money
The course is in excellent shape. I wish my game was in the same shape as the course. Go play and bring your "a" game plan to the course.
Staff friendly
The course is in very goof condition. They allowed us to start on hole 10 as we had a group of 20 college students in front of us on hole 1. this made for a very good round of golf.
Very Nice
Great course. Greens and fairways were nice and speed was good. Enjoy my first outing and will definitely come back and play.
old style course in the heart of NOLA
buddy of mine is a member here... not sure if that's required to play.
the course is a classic old course in my mind. holes tightly bunched, which would make for an easy walk. not a lot of elevation changes, but the holes take some fairly interesting turns. good use of water and bunkering to bring in some challenges.
overall, the course is a fun play, but the conditions were not the greatest. it's a pretty tight course, so if your driver is off the mark it could be tough.
certainly not the greatest course, but i like old style courses and had a great time playing this one.
Horrible customer service
Very disturbing incident took place with staff. I would not recommend anyone visit this zoo.
After 40 years
I came back to play at Timberlane country club for after 40 years, golf course much much better and more more challenging.

Good condition
This was a well conditioned course for the season. Usually, in the winter time you get dead grass and patches. Not in this case. Still not worth regular price but GolfNow has good deals.
Fun course, RUDE "lady" checking golfers in.
I play this course once a month or so.... Course is a decent test. I always enjoy myself on the course. The only real negative is the lady in the pro shop. Always has a horrible attitude and I dread walking in the club house as she sets the round off to a bad start. Someone should fire her!
One of the Better courses in New Orleans
The course is in great shape. However, some players do not repair their ball marks on the greens. We enjoyed playing and the pace of play suited us well. I hope to return soon.
Won't be back
This course is overpriced by almost any standard. Greens in fair to poor shape, but slow. New sand in the traps, which is good. The rakes are too heavy, though, and cart paths badly need repair. We were hungry as we played through seven and called in for two hot dogs. Price (no drinks)? $20.66!!!!! Buns were soggy and potato chips stale. My wife is nicer than I am. I would not have paid. We paid, but won't be back to any course that wants ten bucks for a hot dog.
My home course!
This course has a lot of character. I've been playing here for years before finally becoming a member. The staff is always welcoming. The greens are nice, use to roll much quicker but they're still solid! Doesn't play crazy long but enough challenges to test all areas of your game. Play here if you're looking for a solid track with good greens and fun layout.
