Timberlane Golf & Recreation
About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

Good value
Course isn't in the best shape, but at the price you can't beat it. Fairway grasses were mostly dead, but with all the cold weather, I'm not that surprised. Pace was pretty good. Employees were friendly. Carts are new condition. Overall, a good experience. I've probably played here 20+ times. Over the last ten years, the quality has diminished. It's lost it's country-club feel and is now a full out public course. However, when compared to City Park, Stone Bridge, or Bayou Barriere, it's a notch above. What more could you want for $25/round?
Something for everyone
In its "Hey Day" I sure it was an awesome sight to see but the years and hurricanes have not been kind to Timberlane CC's golf course. The bones are still there and strong; but the rest of her could use a facelift.
I enjoyed playing Timberlane and would play it again in the spring or summer just to see if it is in better condition.
It's a constant play
Nice layout has some challenging holes and is always in good shape.
Challenging, fun course
This course makes you think about where you're hitting the ball. Relatively open front nine. Back nine has tighter fairways, guarded by trees and yards. Staff is courteous but not overly friendly. Paid $39 but still worth the normal $50.
Staff
I travel to play 4-5 days a week. Ive been playing for over 25 years and have never seen a staff as rude as this one. The older lady at the front desk was horrible. Treated us as though we ruined her day by making her get up from her seat. Course was o.k.
VERY slow greens, but decent condition overall
The course was nice. It is the only course I've played in New Orleans, so I can't compare it to the area, but the greens were VERY slow and did not provide a true roll.
Need improvement
For the price pay on golfnow.com it is worth playing
How ever I never see a more unfriendly
Pro shop or even better the club house.
We have try to get drinks at the club house bar .
And no one serve us.
I will not pay more that 20.00$ for this course
Course was ok
The course was ok for a public course in New Orleans but not a country club. I played this course in late November and it was in excellent shape. No appearance of winter maintaince. The greens appeared to have no winter grass planted this season. A lot of dead spots and fungus but the rolled quickly(compact dirt).
Good
The course didn't that've enough carts so we waited till or tee time and the course needs some loving are in some spots. But it wasn't too bad.
