Slow, frustrating round
Started out fine on very busy day. Made the mistake of stopping to get something to eat at the turn. Twosome jumped ahead of us and later somewhere found a third. They were taking multiple shots, and looking for balls in the water (even on approach to 18th green). No one around to move pace along. 5 1/2 almost 6 hour round.
Construction Superintendent
Great track lots of water great layout greens are excellent. A pair of Eagles nesting in a tree on 11th hole. Brand new beautiful club house with great food
Great Couse!
First time playing this course and had a great time. Very challenging, tons of water. if you play do yourself a solid and stay after your round and eat. Food was amazing! Only minus was a few greens had burn pataches on them but most courses in our area do. Staff was very friendly very helpful. I was totally blown away!
Don't be in a hurry
I really like this course. Very well kept but usually the pace of play is slower than most other courses.
Course was in great shape for the first day of spring
The staff was working hard to get it in great shape.
Great value for the price. Nice layout with mixture of moderate to difficult holes. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Superb food at Lenora's in the clubhouse.
Regular at this course
For nearing the end of winter, the course was is very good shape. Still needs the grass to get thicker, but that will come with time. Glad to see that they solved the poyanne problem they had on the greens. Personnel is always been real friendly and welcoming.
Always in good shape with an excellent layout. Very enjoyable golf course which challenges a good player while also being very playable for the novice. Would recommend this facility to anyone visiting the New Orleans are
Every time I play here, it's good - just good
Let me start by saying I play this course as much if not more than I play any other in New Orleans. I have only had two bad experiences, and they are described below, but overall the course is nice and CHEAP!!
The staff is friendly, if distant. They are never rude, but a smile is somewhat rare. The food at the kitchen is good, but be prepared to wait up to 30 mins for a club sandwich, even on slow days.
The course conditions are ... ok. Tee boxes are sound always. The fairways seem to always hover around 85% in repair. It seems that whoever is contracted for big-scale maintenance isn't familiar with golf course work. When I was out last, a worker drove a heavy digger THROUGH THE WET FAIRWAY I was playing, leaving massively deep tracks through the center of the fairway. There was a short, dry route around that area. It seems he just wasn't mindful. The greens are never in great shape. There are various grasses growing and on a few greens, even bald spot to contend with.
Now, there is one thingy that I will head with this:
WARNING WARNING WARNING
On two separate occasions I have been out finishing a round at about 4-4:30 and have had young adults (16-20ish?) walking in to the course from the adjacent neighborhood, apparently heading for the park on the other side. This in itself it's really a bother, but often these kids will PICK UP BALLS as they walk through the course. My group and I have lost a total of three balls, and have had five picked up. On the first occasion, as one kid was picking up his third ball from our group, my friend caught him in the act and got the two back from his pockets.
On the second occasion, I watched them get picked up, but as they were headed across the street I hollered to them and someone who I'm guessing is their mom came out on the porch of the house across the street. "Can I help you?" She asked. I explained that I think the kids entering her house through the side yard had picked up some balls in play by mistake and we'd like them back. "I didn't see any balls around here. Now, go on." With that proclamation she turned in and shut the door. My friends and I were furious. Balls are pricey, but the real issue was that part of what we pay for in golf is peace and room to play. We didn't get that. At all. We did explain to girl in the office as best we could, but I don't know what they can do.
After all that long-windedness about the down side of this course, let me say I WOULD PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN. It is one of the least expensive places to play north of the river, and overall my experiences have been positive the 8 or 9 times I've played this course. It can offer a pretty decent challenge. Players and staff are all easy going, if indifferent. And the off-roading your ball will do can be seen as an interesting challenge. I encourage you to try this course if you haven't, it could grow on you.
Golf Man
Enjoy the round of golf with my good friend Book Man from Atlanta. Perfect day and great golf will get you next time homie. Course was in great shape and well maintained.
Changes need to be made
The pace of play is horrendous. Groups of 6 are all over the place. I honestly believe they have some people that buy a round with a cart early in the morning, and then just freely roam the golf course all day meeting up with friends for a hole or two here and there. The group in front of you could have 2-3 carts on hole 1&2 then suddenly have 5 carts on hole 3. I've seen this stuff happen with my own eyes the last three times I've played here. A change needs to be made quickly. Otherwise, course is great for the price and usually in above average condition considering how much traffic it gets. I would highly advise not coming on the weekend unless you have 5 1/2 hours to spare.
A quite Sunday walk
Booked on Golf Now and even though the price included a cart I like to walk and carry so I did.
This course is usually busy on Sundays but this time I played by myself, the course is in good condition just challenging enough to make it fun.
Great day!
The course is fairly short.
I played the course on 12.24.2016 for the first time. The fairways were in good shape. Greens in excellent condition and rolling true. However, I only played front nine due to very slow play. But when in town I will play it again.
