Good course
Played my first round after five or six years due to previous medical issues. Enjoyed the course. Played for the first and only other time about fifteen years ago.

Cart delay
Carts ran out and pushed back our tee time by 45+ minutes, which can be managed except that the starter/ cart staff didn’t seem too concerned about it and didn’t do anything to help out the 15+ golfers just standing around waiting in the heat. The course was fun but that kind of a delay and indifference is a bummer.

the course was fun ,greens in great condition , fairways were decent but the tee boxes are in terrible condition. the cart guy was not friendly especially when the first cart we got #12 the steering was not safe i would turn the wheel and the wheels didn't turn right away and he seemed unhappy that we wanted a different one .the rest of the staff were awesome.

The course was in very poor condition. The tees were in terrible condition as were the greens. It’s to bad the course has great potential.
The tees were in terrible condition. The fairways had not been mowed. The sand traps had no sand only hard dirt. And the greens were in poor poor condition. It is a shame, the course had great potential. We got a good deal but now we know why. There was no money worth this course I’m sorry to say

Beginner
Robin was a big help and I am thankful to have met him. My tee time was ready and there were very few hold ups on the round of golf I played. Overall the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this course to try.

Needs a LOT of work
I have played this course a handful of times. Literally the only reason we booked it was because all of the better courses were already booked. The only thing that is consistent is that the conditions are typically poor. All of the tee boxes are in bad shape. Suffice it to say probably half of the course has dirt paths for golf carts. Fairways are not in great condition and if you miss you are most likely in massive weeds and/or rock hard dirt. You have to play with relief out of the sand traps because they are crusted over and extremely brittle. The greens aren't too bad.
Our tee time was for 7:45 a.m. on a Saturday and we still had to wait 20 minutes because they were behind. Didn't finish our round until 12:45 or so. Pace of play for being that early is atrocious.
The only good thing about this course was the very friendly staff. They were polite and cordial.

Worst service ever/ why you should never play Boulder Oaks with current owner
After going on line to make tee time when checking in the owner charged $22.00 more than my reservation confirmation. This was the FORTH TIME he has done this. When I showed him my confirmations his reply “I don’t care what Golf Now says”. My reply was “the why do yo use golf now on your course “. The conversation became heated ... I demanded my money back.
I also told him my friends an I will NEVER AGAIN play your course. I still ended up paying $9.50

Strange layout and poor conditions
I have played most courses in San Diego, but this one was by far my strangest experience. First off, the staff there were fantastic, no complaints there. The conditions on the course were pretty horrible though. Tee boxes were missing grass, the fairways were dried up, and if you missed the fairway you were wacking out of weeds. The cart paths were 50% dirt and gravel and the bunkers were entirely unplayable as well. The greens were okay, a bit better than everything else. As for the layout, there are way too many par 3s that play around 160 yards from the black tees (about 6 I think). For the longer holes, most drives were blind shots. This can be extremely frustrating, because you have no idea where to place your tee shot. You have to kind of guess and hope you don’t end up in the weeds. There are some interesting holes for sure, but they don’t make much sense. The front nine is a par 32 and the back nine is a par 38; however the first two par 5s on the back nine play like long par 4s. Really strange layout. Overall, it’s a low price, but you get what you pay for.

Fun course
Ignore the negative comments on Yelp...this is a fun course with great value. Not all areas are super well maintained but it plays like a mountain course, with nature areas around and between holes. Elevation changes and great views add to a fun course. Black tees would be brutal and only for the longest and best hitters. Blues provide excellent challenge and white tees provide a good challenge with reasonable distance, especially the holes 10-18. Greens are well maintained with multi tiers and tricky slopes but rarely ridiculous. Definitely will be back. Staff was friendly and casual.

Not honoring golf now price
These people are deceptive, booked on line with golf now , but was a w as liking price, I understand that, but then to charge you $20 each , 2 to a cart $49 is a total rip off!

One and done
The location is a bit out of the way, but I was looking forward to trying a new course in north county. The guy in the club house was friendly, same with all of the staff I saw.
The course itself is very narrow and unforgiving. The course design was very unusual (par 32 on front 9, par 38 on back 9. There's three par 5's to start the back 9. But the main issue was the terrible condition of the tee boxes, fairway, bunkers and most greens.
