The Raw Truth
Course is in decent shape, teed off early afternoon so the pace of play was good. The staff is very friendly however the clubhouse closes early weekdays.
Another Tucson Gem
I have been coming to Tucson to play golf for many years now. I have play most of the resort courses in the area and I would say the layout of Fred Enke is right up there with most of them. Several forced carries, scenic Mountain View’s, trouble left and right, ample fairways and nice greens. It was late May so the course was not very green but I bet it is beautiful in the Winter and Spring. I will definitely come back to Fred Enke.
Needs some tlc
Course reminded me of the condition it was in 5-6 years ago. Dry and bare fairways. Love the layout and variety, but won’t play again until the fairways are in better shape.
A Little Disappointing
Having played the course many times before and enjoying myself, i was a little disappointed and frustrated when the pace of play slowed to that of a snail or slug on the back nine. After an hour and twenty minutes and four holes completed I could not take it any more and drove to the clubhouse. There were two gaps of over a hole between groups which to me was evidence of inexperienced golfers being in over their heads and not knowing that the number one rule in golf is to keep up with the group in front of you. It is not the fault of the course but rather the idea on behalf of some new golfers that if it takes ten or twelve strokes to play a hole, then I paid my money, I'll take that many shots and get my money's worth. Also the idea that I paid money for that golf ball, I'm going to search until I find it no matter how long it takes needs to become a thing of the past.. When played in less than four hours, it is a wonderful course and a true challenge.
Good for a Muni!
First time playing this course. The conditions are ok and the cart paths are almost non-existent. A little more water would help a lot. I will play again since I live close by but there are other places to play that provide better experiences for the same rate.
Marshall Please
It was so slow had to wait 5 to 10 mins between shots . They need Marshall to move it along , some poeple playing two balls.
The staff were fantastic. Welcoming to myself and my two young sons on what could’ve been an afternoon of anxiety as they are beginners turned out to be a wonderful day and memory of our stay.
should be in better shape
The fIrways ate as short as the greens. Thegreens were nice, but the fairways and rough were the same length. Nothing on the sides of the fairways to distinguish the rough. Ball would roll off the fairways and into the brush because there was no difference. Bunkers are full of rocks, before you putt, you have to clean a path to the hole of rocks. The cart paths are really rough where there is no concrete. Very rough. NO water stations on the course, it was really hot and no water except off the expensive beverage cart. The biggest problem and I think a lot of people would agree is the fact you cannot take your cart to the parking lot.
No city money?
City courses don't seem to be watering this year, so far. Might need to start in June if they bother over seeding.
Bunkers are wildly inconsistent. Cost me a birdie at 9. Turned into a double b.
Someone seems to have thought it was a good idea to dump sand around the course? Could use some in the bunkers. Or at least work the bunkers so you can get under the ball with your sand wedge. Or have a local rule that players can pick up ball in bunker, rake some sand into place, and replace ball. Covid seems to have infected the bunkers at many courses the past few years, tho.
