Winter Enke
Average winter conditions. Tee boxes were in poor shape. Even after cart path project paths are still in poor shape.
Course in good shape
Thie fairways have been overseeded for two years now and this has made a huge difference. This is a good course layout and it is in very good shape. The greens are fairly fast and are in pretty good shape also. I recomment it.
Fred Enke
Course has decent layout but very dry and hardground.
Little slow, had to wait on most every tee box.
Restaurant was closed at the turn, (3 o'clock) .
Overall feel was I can find better courses to play in the Tucson area.
That being said, I will give it a second try in the future.
Still beat up
Other than some new concrete cart paths on parts of the back nine this is the same old Fred Enke course. Fairways are thin at best, tee boxes humped, lots of rocks and hard pan dirt everywhere. And greens were ok but on the verge of looking really thin and beat. They’re charging too much to play there.
Better, still room to improve
Some newly installed cart paths help, but still very much in need of a total replacement. These paths are literally a hard ride.
The fairways are reseeded and play well. Rough is dormant and lays flat, the ball will roll freely.
Greens are the best and play fast, tricky, and challenge.
New range balls improve that experience.
I like this course for the need to stay in play along with shotmaking requirements.
Slow play holds things up, but still enjoyed the day.
Great pick for winter golf
Fred Enke used to have raggy greens and was overall not worth playing with so many other courses in better condition. The greens now days are fast and roll well for a muni course. Overall the course is in very good condition with some of the best sand traps around. Real sand and not hard pan and rocks. If you haven't played there it is a tricky desert course with a lot of interesting holes and very challenging greens. For the money at this time its well worth it. Bring all your skills since you'll need them. If you have a low round you will feel like you survived it.
It's in great shape
The overseed has matured - fairways and greens are in great condition. Greens were fast despite the wet weather. Every hole at Fred has it's own character making it the absolute best course for the money in Tucson.
Gorgeous Day on the Course
Beautiful Thanksgiving day on the course. Not many people out so we had smooth sailing. Course is in excellent condition.
Surprisingly good!
Looks like the city is doing an excellent job turning it around. Half of the course have paved cart path and in great shape. Tee boxes can be better, if they level and mowed it down. Other than that, overall conditions are surprisingly good. Bunkers actually have sand and better than any other courses around town. Range balls are fairly new.
Where's the ranger?
Decent course and price was undermined by exceptionally slow play by one foursome. With no golfers in front of them it took almost 5 hours to play. Not sure if I will play this course again.
N0 carts.
They ran out of carts. The tee box was open but no one could tee off because there were no carts available. We waited 35 minutes after our scheduled start time. Very annoying. Next time we'll walk.
