challinging course
This is a great city course, that has been let go supposedly because the city council wants to close it. it is the most challinging of all the city courses.
Horrible Course
Fairways are not very good, greens are horrible, cart are old and beat up. You cannot put because the greens are so bad
Challenging & could be a good course but condition was very poor.
Perhaps if true city of Tucson rather cater to "big money" for the G.C. property is what the grape vine mention was during my play than provide golf course amenity to residents of & visitors to Tucson! So sad for the many golfers in Tucson. Was said , that not the only city owned course that is slated for closure!
Challenging desert golf which demands a return visit to play it properly.
As with many courses this winter, the course has suffered from the cold weather, so although the fairways are pretty firm in places, you gain some distance with a great bounce! We played as a twosome and could have benefited from playing with someone who knew the course. We lost some shots because we didn't understand where we should be aiming. We also felt the course was narrow and demanded some accurate shots in order not to give up a ball to the brush. We were also surprised how hilly the course was on the front nine; pleasantly surprised. We are going to play again.
Okay
The course was in pretty bad condition, but I got my tee time for $20, so you can't beat the price. There were a ton of trees and it was a very challenging course. The course did not seem well maintained though and anytime you were off the fairway, you were probably going to get scraped by the trees. The greens were in TERRIBLE condition, very bouncy it was impossible to play the greens. Out of regulation looked like the shadowy area from lion king, I thought I was going to meet Scar.
Don't let this course go!
The course definitely needs help, but is a great layout and really didn't play that bad all things considered. Not sure that the info out there is 100% correct that the course is scheduled to close...sounds like the decision isn't set in stone. They definitely didn't over-seed and and though the greens are a bit bumpy, they play rather consisten and the bumps don't affect the lines that much. It is a decent course to work on your target game.
Would love to see them save this and the tourney on the 5th of April needs all your support. This could be a fantastic public course again.
This is a great course design...No bad holes!
This is probably one of the best designed courses in Tucson...It's too bad it is involved in politics...A little attention and this could again be a wonderful place to play...I hope it happens...We love the course!
GREENS HAVE BEEN LET GO...BAD
CARTS ARE BAD AND SO ARE THE GREENS.NOT MUCH GOOD TO SAY ABOUT FAIRWAYS EITHER..
Course has seen better days, always slow play
with course looking like it will be closing soon, they have nt kept up with its condition and as always, overbook the tee times, amking for a long slow day.
course needs work
Fred Enke needs to remain open. Its the only city course with personality. The fairways were not great on this day and need attention. Greens also bumby at least most of them. Are they letting the course go? Lets get Fred Enke back to where it was and keep it open.
This course has an interesting design.
The course is slated to be closed and turned into a nature park. This has been in the paper and it's obvious that the city isn't putting any money into the upkeep. The course is interesting to play and has a number of very good holes but takes some local knowledge to attack. It's not the best course in town but I believe it's good enough to keep in playing condition as once it's gone then when the need arises it will be more expensive to build a new course than use what you have.
Fun desert course with ups and downs, greens rough.
I shot an 89,my partner shot 81. His putts went in, mine missed (too many). Greens have a growth which provides bumps--hard to read. The hills and the cactus provides challenges.
Fun and challenging
This course is scheduled to close due to lack of funding by the city. What a shame. Hope they reconsider.
Needs work...."Water".
The fairways are in desperate need of water. Greens are rough with some kind of growth. The cart we had the brakes kept sticking when used. I played this course in the early fall and was in a lot better shape than now. Considering the price guess was ok.
Too many blind shots.
The first few holes have several blind shots that make it difficult for a player playing for the first time on this course. It is also tight in some critical areas, lagain making it difficult. Lost several balls although rarely lose one one my home course..
Mediocre fairways, poor greens.
The fairways were not overseeded this year but they are playable. It's a shame to see how poor the greens are now though. Maybe it's the recent cold weather but there is almost no grass on them except for clumps of poa. This is the time when you expect the best conditions. Only a deep discount on GolfNow made these conditions tolerable.
Great Course Layout
Some one should tell the City of Tucson, especailly the commissioners, to water this course. One of the most difficult public golf courses in Tucson - great layout. .
Course is in ok shape
The course is in pretty good shape. The recent frost has had some effect on the course. Some of the greens are a spotty, but overall very playable.
