About
Avila Beach Golf Resort is located right along the bay, giving it a scenic setting that has made it the most well known of the Central Coast golf courses. The layout offers plenty of variety with a hilly front nine that features small, often elevated, greens that are surrounded by oak-lined valleys and a back nine that that is routed across a tidal estuary. Golfers should be prepared for forced carries over water and multi-tiered greens on the backside. At first the course may seem short, but thanks to the dramatic elevation changes and numerous other challenges, it will begin to feel much longer. There are several severe doglegs throughout as well as tight approaches. Avila Beach Golf Resort is not a layout where you can easily "grip it and rip it." Rather, accuracy and good course-management are rewarded.

Horrible Golf Outing
Please don’t waste your money at this course. Only the back 9 is opened and the course is in horrible condition. Fairways are bare without much grass, greens are bumpy, cart paths need to be repaired. Please don’t waste your money at this course.
Not the best
I have never played such a poorly maintained golf course. This course won’t make it just on the location alone. The range was overgrown. The tee boxes were chewed up. We were not aware half the course was closed prior to playing. The staff was very friendly though.
April golf
Front nine was closed due to bridge repair. Fairways were pretty dry and very bumpy. The cart path is in need of repair. Great views, a great relaxing spot to sit after the round, have a beverage, and food, and stare at the ocean. Very windy the day we played, but beautiful weather.

Golf now does not mention that the front nine is closed due to storm damage

Just go somewhere else front 9 is closed long term
To much water on coarse
The course was too muddy on the back 9 and people that did try to play like myself we're Waiting for people in the front.
Disgusting conditions
So bad conditions you have to play the back 8, with an added short hole to make it 9, twice. Very wet and soggy, so wet they haven’t cut grass in weeks. The fairways are terrible to the point when I hit a ball mud went flying. The balls didn’t run, they just dropped and stuck in the wet boggy grass. Sand traps were mud and water traps.
Of course they closed the course the next day - they shouldn’t have even opened the day we went.
Waste of money til the conditions get better.

What Happened
They've really let the course go in the past years and I'm not sure it's worth playing even for the hot deal we got. I've enjoyed rounds in the past and maybe it's just a matter of catching up to the past rains, but everything is currently in a state of disarray.
What?
Oh my god, you guys did not seriously raise your prices? You were already overpriced last year when it was ~$70. $80+ now?! Insane for the condition the course was in all of 2022.

Bad course … if it weren’t by the beach it wouldn’t be open.
