Avila Beach Golf Resort
About
Avila Beach Golf Resort is located right along the bay, giving it a scenic setting that has made it the most well known of the Central Coast golf courses. The layout offers plenty of variety with a hilly front nine that features small, often elevated, greens that are surrounded by oak-lined valleys and a back nine that that is routed across a tidal estuary. Golfers should be prepared for forced carries over water and multi-tiered greens on the backside. At first the course may seem short, but thanks to the dramatic elevation changes and numerous other challenges, it will begin to feel much longer. There are several severe doglegs throughout as well as tight approaches. Avila Beach Golf Resort is not a layout where you can easily "grip it and rip it." Rather, accuracy and good course-management are rewarded.

Course was not in good condition but the greens were really in good shape. They have had a lot of rain to be fair
Worst Experience Ever
Will never be coming back to this place again. Tried to bring my 8 year old son with me to hopefully get a love for the game. The older gentleman at the front desk told me that there were no spectators. NO EXCEPTIONS. Repeatedly shook the paper in my face after me asking when they put that into place. My round had been paid for online. He wanted me to pay full price ($67) for my son to watch. Then rent clubs for him for another $30. So I spent an extra $100 for my son to sit in my cart next to me the whole time. The gentleman was insanely rude about it. Giving me attitude the whole time. The greens are awful. There’s about 4 different types of grass on the greens which will send your ball 3 different ways. I usually golf here about twice a month but I won’t be coming back anymore. Tried to email them and see if there was anything they could do before I wrote a review but didn’t get a reply.
A slo country standard
I quirky course but my favorite in the Central Coast…. After grab a beer and enjoy the best deal in town right in n the beach away from the wind
Good course
Loved the course ! cant believe i've never played there before.
Only downfall is that Golf now doesn't make it very clear that the rate is for walking only???
Sad state of affairs.
Sad state of affairs. I quit after 16 holes because the pace of play was so slow. The sand traps have no sand and the fairways are bare in spots. The greens are rough and diseased. I am sad to see this course in its present condition.
Avila Beach 12/12/21
Avila Beach golf course has such great potential. Situated near the coast line, the back 9 has some great views of the ocean and beach. Greens are in in great shape as is 75% of the rest of the course. However, there are areas that need some care that will take an average playing experience into a phenomenal day.. Practice facility is a shambles. Entire driving range needs mat replacements, landscaping work, gopher extermination, and the like. Practice green is in great shape. Good value for the dollar. Good combination of uphill, downhill, blind shots, etc. Just needs better grounds maintenance. Fantastic food at the on-site restaurant. Very friendly staff.
C'mon Man!
This course is so beautiful! But the course upkeep has been questionable. Some tee boxes are out of shape and there's no sand in some of the traps. But a real head scratcher is the location of the white tees on hole #2. There is a chute about 25 feet wide 10 yards in front of the tee. That's tough enough but the trees also overhang the shot so low there's no way you can hit any kind of shot other than a knockdown or chip! The very elevated hole a bit less than 300 away, but they call it a par 4 since you can't hit a normal shot. C'mon man! Otherwise I love this place.
Great choice
This was an awesome course
Greens and course Overall were in great shape for this time of year.
Would highly recommend it.
The only drawback was the lack of sound in the bunkers .
But who plays golf in the bunkers, right .
First time
Took way too long to play 18 holes. 2 groups ahead in front of me were slow as turtles. Where’s the Marshall?
If I hadn’t gotten a deal on golf now I wouldn’t have played. Beautiful course though.
Extremely disappointed.
I've been wanting to play this course for years. The course is in terrible condition and not worth the money which is to bad. I've never seen a resort golf course in such poor condition. The greens have fungas and bald spots on most holes. The fairways were thin with bald spots. Some of the tee box's look like they hadn't been mowed in a few weeks. The cart paths need to be completely replaced.
Will I ever play it again? Probably not. This is a real shame because the course could really be something special.
A lot of potential
Nice layout and the live music in the evening was fun, but the course could be in better shape. Sand traps need work.
Best golf carts !!!
The padded seats on the golf carts, were like sitting in a luxury sedan !!!
