About
Avila Beach Golf Resort is located right along the bay, giving it a scenic setting that has made it the most well known of the Central Coast golf courses. The layout offers plenty of variety with a hilly front nine that features small, often elevated, greens that are surrounded by oak-lined valleys and a back nine that that is routed across a tidal estuary. Golfers should be prepared for forced carries over water and multi-tiered greens on the backside. At first the course may seem short, but thanks to the dramatic elevation changes and numerous other challenges, it will begin to feel much longer. There are several severe doglegs throughout as well as tight approaches. Avila Beach Golf Resort is not a layout where you can easily "grip it and rip it." Rather, accuracy and good course-management are rewarded.

Avila Beach Golf
Very light course traffic today. No waiting at any time. Course itself a bit rough if off fairway. The course could use more mowing and maintenance but still a good value for the money.
Avila Bay
Check in good, service at mulligans grill so so, starter great, range terrible, boxes need work, fairways okay (firm/thin), greens were punched about 3 weeks ago but in decent shape, rough—— STAY IN FAIRWAY! Great area to gather post play, nicely shaded or full sun both out/in door seating.
Overall, 3 1/2 star. All courses on the central coast seem to be in similar condition right now.
great first time course
Great course to play on, and the scenery was even better. Will play here again definitely.
Golf course layout is VERY interesting. Lots of blind shots- not easy for the first time around. Greens were aerated probably 2 weeks ago but played ok (still pretty fast.). Would love to see more $$$/ maintenance given to this course to bring the Old Girl back to her glory days...

Avila Golf Course
The course is good for the cost. Fairways were in good shape and mostly wide open. Front 9 and back 9 are completely different. Front is more difficult and the greens are faster. Pin placement was questionable..
It was a great way to spend a beautiful Sunday.
Rough
Greens where nice, great layout. Fairways need work. Not great Maintanance. Tough layout but definitely worth it. Challenging all clubs came into play.
Seaside Views
Very challenging course. Played the Blue's, driving strait and some course knowledge is important for doglegs, creeks and water holes. Greens putted well and consistent. I had to add a club or two on account of the uphill approaches and the headwinds. Played as a single and finished in 4 hours. 6500 yards, very nice.
Great course on the coast
Very friendly staff. Nice course with many different holes. No two holes were the same. Greens were good. Great views to the water on several holes.
Avila Beach Golf Resort
Course had a good layout and could really test your skills. Lots of dog legs and helps if you had a playing partner that has played the course. Overall, we all had a great time considering we were all hacking today. loL
Not great
Hadn't played this course in a couple years. Got a deal on golfnow.com. Could be a really fun course but the owner doesn't keep it up. Worth what I paid, $26, but not more. The restaurant/bar was very nice. People were nice and helpful but in the end the course doesn't compete well with others in the area.
Great course with some challenges
Great course with beautiful scenery. The first 9 holes are rough for beginners for sure. The only complaint was the kart paths were horrible.
