Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
I had a great time. I haven’t played here in over 25 years. I’ll be back with my son. Great value
Terrible: Oak Valley has turned into a COW PASTURE
I've spent February in the Palm Springs area for the last 15 winters.. I've played Oak Valley annually for the last couple of years. It was always in borderline "rough" condition but this time it was over-the-top. I've seen abandoned golf courses in better condition. Oak Valley has a championship layout but it has turned into a cow pasture due to neglect. I play 9 holes and left. Sad to see what it has become. I'll play it again when I hear it's under new ownership with improvements. Otherwise i'm done with it.
Slow play, overbooked, no food available after 3 pm.
This used to be a wonderful glof course, not sure who bought it but they have ruined this course. Stay away, not worth the trip.
Weathet
Great, demanding, fun course. Weather can be a little windy but still fun.
I haven’t played here in 25 years. I had a great time. Definitely a deal! I’ll be back with my son.
A Challenging Course
Oak Valley is a good challenge for advanced golfers. The greens, tees and bunkers are all in good condition, but the fairways could use some TLC. Still, it’s an excellent layout and a good value
Wasn’t Allowed to Play
I showed up and wasn’t allowed to play because I brought my special needs brother along to ride with me. Unbeknownst to me, the course has a stupid policy of not allowing riders. I would like Golf Now to refund my greens fee and restore the credit that I redeemed for the reservation
nice course
very pretty course, especially the back nine ,my wife and I, love this course
Beautiful course!
This course will challenge all of your skills while providing gorgeous scenery, particularly on the back nine. It has become one of our very favorite courses in So Cal.
Could be a gem ?
This could be a real treat if and when the course conditions improve. Given the amount of rain the area has received certainly reflects on my ratings. The layout of this track is challenging and has the potential to be quite pleasing to the eye. However, the Tee boxes were in need of grooming on this day, most of the sand traps were unplayable due to water or lack of racking. There was much standing water on fairways but most of the greens were in good shape, challenging with many undulations. Perhaps we should have waited a month to play it, given it time to dry out and warm up. It was quite cool, an unnoticeable elevation drive from Palm Springs found us clouded, breezy and much colder there than anticipated. The few staff members we interacted with seemed disengaged and the restaurant area was closed and looking for a new lessee so no food or drink to warm our attitudes. Sadly we are visiting from out of town so will not be playing there anytime soon - would give it a second chance under better circumstances.
degenerated
the practice range was closed.
The course is in wretched condition: 2/3 brown scrub, 1/3 grass. Greens pitted and discolored. Too bad, because this is the best layout in California. Used to be indispensable, but all downhill now.
Management change- Running the course into the ground
Sadly it looks like this course won’t be around long term. It seems this course is under new ownership and they are running this course into the ground. Remember the Champions course in Corona, Empire Lakes in Rancho Cucamonga. All closed now and went down this path prior to closing and being sold to developers. Look at the Links at Summerly going down the same path. Not sure it it is the state marking it difficult for courses to stay in business due to water restrictions but I believe it is and owners just waiting for the opportunity to sell to developers. Too many nice courses closing . Oak Valley used to have decent amenities and a golf school for kids. No more. Looks at Goose Creek. That is how a golf course should be run.
AWESOME COURSE !!!
AWESOME LAYOUT , GREENS ROLLED TRUE !!!! Nothing bad to say about this course. If I lived closer to it I would golf there all the time!!!!***
