Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Great track
Pleasant course! Driving range/putting green were nice. Fairways good, greens great, bunkers ok, tee boxes good. Fun elevation change on a few holes. Shot a 94 from the tips and that was with playing the last 2 holes shooting in almost dark conditions. Sun had set but the die hard in me said get out the headlamp and finish. Actually got par on 18. Will be back to play again soon. Great staff as well. Thank you Oak Valley
Golf Carts
Whole fleet is in disrepair and breaking down; constantly dying on the course leading to fouling up pace of play for everyone...plus lack of help from from cart barn/mgmt to relieve this situation.
pretty nice round
course in decent shape....rough is high, can be difficult to find balls...greens are pretty nice...can't figure out ownership?...don't appear to be spending a lot of money ...this property has great potential and always has
Over-all
Course is coming along very nicely after greens airation and heavy watering of greenside roughs; finally getting mowed. Greens 95% back; fairways are spectacular!
Always a fun place to play
We always stop to play here the course layout is interesting with a real variety of holes. The greens 🥬 here are excellent and normally very fast but a little slow now as they have just reopened from reseeding this course is challenging 😥 and fun to play not a plush country club but a must play if your in the Palm Springs area
Always a fun course to play
Oak Valley is a pleasure to play not overly difficult but the greens can be some of the fastest in the valley driving range available to warm up at not that busy this time of year but this is a course you shouldn’t miss as it is just a fun place to play 👍😃
Great for golf but other amenities really lacked.
I’d heard this was a fun challenging course to play and it was. The driving range was nice since they actually had grass to hit off. The course overall was in nice condition, greens ran slow in the early morning but picked up a lot of speed as they dried, fairways were nicely maintained and bunkers actually had sand. The tee boxes were cut a little long but not horrible. You can tell the grounds crew works hard.
What was shocking was the lack of a pro shop, the group I was playing with said it had been closed for several years so show up with everything to play as they have a very limited selection at the cart bay.
As for food and drink there is a snack bar at the clubhouse but it had only limited options by 10AM and there was no cart service.
Rough and native areas
The layout and most conditions at Oak Valley are great for the price point. The rough is very thick and hasn’t been cut in a while, so if you miss fairways you may lose your ball. I actually lost a ball on the downhill par 3 3rd hole because it was also a damp morning and my ball was either embedded or lost in this clover-type grass short of the green. Many of the native areas between holes could use some love as well, with the high IE winds looks like branches fall off the big trees and are just left laying around in the native areas. Bottom line we enjoy this course enough to drive past many other courses to play here. Definitely recommend just hit it straight!
Not worth the price
The course is a fun layout and I’ve played it a few times. Greens were in decent shape and received the ball well. Two big issues - tee boxes were hard as rock and not well maintained AND the snack bar closed before 3:30pm on Saturday! We made the turn to fill up the cooler again and no one was there…
Course in great shape
Teed off on Wednesday around 11 AM and saw noone until the 18th. Played in about 3 hours. The fairways and greens were in great shape. The greens were very soft and much slower than normal due to the recent heavy rains, but still rolled true and smooth. I'm pretty sure the course will be closed for the last 2 weeks in September for aeration, so I'd play before then.
Good course conditions
No ice in cart cooler, no cart girl, and some uneven tee boxes. Otherwise, it was a great course.
Windy but fun
Played the morning before Tropical Storm Kay arrived, so we had a lot of wind even with a 7:30am tee time. Nice driving range. Course was fun and in good condition. Greens were quick but held the shots. Some bunkers could use some more sand, but that is pretty much the norm everywhere. Would definitely return.
