About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Golfer Reviews
Great for golf but other amenities really lacked.
I’d heard this was a fun challenging course to play and it was. The driving range was nice since they actually had grass to hit off. The course overall was in nice condition, greens ran slow in the early morning but picked up a lot of speed as they dried, fairways were nicely maintained and bunkers actually had sand. The tee boxes were cut a little long but not horrible. You can tell the grounds crew works hard.
What was shocking was the lack of a pro shop, the group I was playing with said it had been closed for several years so show up with everything to play as they have a very limited selection at the cart bay.
As for food and drink there is a snack bar at the clubhouse but it had only limited options by 10AM and there was no cart service.
Rough and native areas
The layout and most conditions at Oak Valley are great for the price point. The rough is very thick and hasn’t been cut in a while, so if you miss fairways you may lose your ball. I actually lost a ball on the downhill par 3 3rd hole because it was also a damp morning and my ball was either embedded or lost in this clover-type grass short of the green. Many of the native areas between holes could use some love as well, with the high IE winds looks like branches fall off the big trees and are just left laying around in the native areas. Bottom line we enjoy this course enough to drive past many other courses to play here. Definitely recommend just hit it straight!
Not worth the price
The course is a fun layout and I’ve played it a few times. Greens were in decent shape and received the ball well. Two big issues - tee boxes were hard as rock and not well maintained AND the snack bar closed before 3:30pm on Saturday! We made the turn to fill up the cooler again and no one was there…
Course in great shape
Teed off on Wednesday around 11 AM and saw noone until the 18th. Played in about 3 hours. The fairways and greens were in great shape. The greens were very soft and much slower than normal due to the recent heavy rains, but still rolled true and smooth. I'm pretty sure the course will be closed for the last 2 weeks in September for aeration, so I'd play before then.
Windy but fun
Played the morning before Tropical Storm Kay arrived, so we had a lot of wind even with a 7:30am tee time. Nice driving range. Course was fun and in good condition. Greens were quick but held the shots. Some bunkers could use some more sand, but that is pretty much the norm everywhere. Would definitely return.
Still a challenging course.
this is a championship course. landmark golf started this course. and was at one time up there with pga west. much of the turf is good. but there are some jacked up tee boxes.
be prepared for uneven lies in the fairway after perfectly placed tee shots. elevated greens with massive fall-offs. bunkers in every imaginable place. lots of elevated tee boxes but the fairways don't roll like tukwet on the other side of the fairway. if you're lucky you will see bigfoot's house (course tree trimming lumber in waste areas).
play here regularly. you just might become a better golfer.
facilities not so great. only due to the fact that most of it is closed due to the pandemic or due to needing overhauling. i'm not sure but there are plenty of things nearby now.
Oak Valley
The course was in good condition especially with the heat the last week or so. A few rocks in the bunkers but the tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in good shape.
I was playing solo and had 2 very slow foursomes ahead that was very painful. Didn’t see a marshal all day- it may have helped speed them up
Solid birthday round
Came out for my buddies birthday. Course was in great shape. Greens were fast yet still soft. Balls into the green were sticking. Teed off at 630. Group at 620 had gone a little early so never seen them on the same hole as us. 640 wasn’t called to the tee box till after we were off the first green so never seen them behind us either which was awesome. Only thing I wish would change here is cart service and would be nice to see the club house open again. But from pure golf standpoint I’d highly recommend
Always fun
Couple tough holes but a great layout. Always enjoyable to play here. Love it and definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to golf.
