Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Conditions great.
The course has always been in good condition and challenging. The condition of the course was the best I’ve experienced, pace of play was (only one on course) fantastic and the greens ran true, as well as receptive to approach shots.
Could not have had a finer golf afternoon, I highly recommend this location for a fun round of golf.
A cool day for golf
Very nice and had perfect weather with a slight breeze.
Greens good, fairways and bunkers not so
Excellent track but conditions not up to par. Bunker sand compacted from watering and not recently raked, even though hand rakes were in place. Fairways lacking water and not maintained to old Oak Valley standards. Greens were in good shape however.
No beverage cart service so bring your own. Coolers on carts and ice available on request.
Really nice layout. I will be back!
I had not played this course since the 1990's. (I was out of state for over 25 years.) I've now played over 35 courses in the Inland Empire + Palm Springs since moving back about 2 years ago (thanks to GolfNow.com). I think this is one of the better values. I started at 1:50 PM on my own and finished in about 3.5 hours despite playing 2 balls most of the time! The tee boxes and fairways are better than most for under $50 and the greens are as good as some I've played for closer to $75! YES, there are some brown spots and a few bare spots on the fairways, but overall better than most.
I love the layout! Interesting and challenging but playable with nice water features. I WILL BE BACK!
Unfortunate demise..
Haven’t played this course in years and the years have been hard on it. It’s obviously not being cared for. Tee boxes were horrific, hardly any grass, uneven, etc. Any shot off the fairway is sitting in clumpy grass or rock hard bunkers. The greens had been recently aerated, are extremely bumpy and don’t roll true. Golf carts are old and decrepit, amenities non existent. And be careful of the thousands of gofer holes. Save your money and time. Much better choices in the area.
Honest
I really like Oak Valley. It's a challenging track. The conditions were good both the fairways and greens. There's really no complaints about the course. I heard someone saying the areas around the the course could be nicer but I think the natural surroundings make it just that, natural. The point is to keep it in play.
Side note:; since the lock down prices have gone through the roof! Once people who decided to take up golf because they needed a way to get out leave, the demand will drop and hopefully pricing will go back to normal!

This has always been one of my favorite courses in the Inland empire to play. It’s close to home and is usually very consistent. Recently there has been a decline in playing conditions, and the course is a mere shadow of what it once was 10 years ago. The greens continue to be some of the best around and were just aeriated. The areas around the greens are well maintained, and the green side bunkers are as good as local bunkers are. The fairways could use more water and a nice re-seed wouldn’t be a bad idea. Most of the fairways are patchy mix of rye and Bermuda grass with very little consistency in color and a cut. The tee boxes are very worn out and need to maintained and rotated more often. The staff has been hit and miss for me, they are not rude by any means, but no one has gone above and beyond and provide top tier service one would expect from a top-quality golf course. Recently the driving range has started to place mats out on the grass to preserve the hitting area. This intervention is understood, but not enjoyed. I love playing here and will continue to play here, but I wish the course could be brought back to the conditions it was in when I started playing there
