Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

What happened..........
Five years ago, even three years ago, this used to be the course to play within 30 miles of the Coachella valley. Present day, not so much. While the greens as usual were in good condition, the rest of the course looked ignored. I don’t know if this course is under new management, is struggling financially, or is simply letting the course go over the summer which is all understandable. However, charging 70.00 for a course that is clearly in a transitional state is “embarrassing” which is a direct quote from an employee, who knew the difference. Let’s hope this course gets back to where it used to be.
Great course for all skill levels.
The golf course has a great layout and challenges your golf skills. The greens were fast and immaculate. Great course for the price.
Had a great time course played very good greens were awesome
Great course
Another week or two and the greens will be great, still slow and recovering from the maintenance in late April. The rest of the course is really lush and in a great shape.
One of So Cals best courses
Exceptional course
Course conditions excellent
Slight modifications made to course actually improved playability
Housing built around course did not effect scenery at all
Even the driving range was in excellent conditions
Starter and Marshall were very friendly
After playing course for over 20 years when temporary pro shop was there course has actually gotten better
Dollar for dollar it’s a So Cal top 10
Keep up the great work
Worth every mile for me to drive
( inside employees also very friendly and helpful )
Always amazing
One of the best and most underrated courses in Southern California. I wish I could get here more often. Great lauout. Great condition. Nice staff.
Best BANG for the money!!!
Played a 3-some with my children and the course was wide open, so much so, that we finished the round in less than 3 hours. Tee box had perfectly mowed grass. Fairways, although a bit tough due to the sloping characteristic, were perfect from tee to green. Will surely come back.
Great shape
Course is in good shape. It was slow as it gets with a 6 hour round, though. There was 3 tournaments out ahead of us before we teed off at 11 AM. We waited on every shot. EVERY shot. I'll reconsider trying this course late morning on a Saturday again. But overall the course is in good shape. Come on out before they start aerating on the 30th.
Very wonderful
Beautiful layout. Awesome the way the holes are put together! The price is fair and the golf is challenging. You need to make this a course you play once a month at least.
Awsome Again
Perfect fairways, perfect greens, great sand (if you miss your shot) and a great design with a bunch of memorable holes. Large fairways for your drive and angle in, but challenging second shot course. No homes in the way. We saw a wild Bobcat in the brush with her cubs, a bunch of hawks, fish in the clear water lakes. If you have not played here it is an absolute must. The price point is totally worth it. The best driving range....The only thing I would improve is beer cart service. But they give you an ice chest with free ice and you can load up at the bar. I would play here every day and nowhere else if I could afford it. Bang!!
Oak Valley
Played the Whites (6316/70.5/130) with Andrew1, Marcus and HmtGolfGuy in slightly over 4.5H playing behind their Men's Club. $45 w/cart Sr. weekday rate. The weather was clear, fairly calm and warm. Combination of being far from my home(s) and rarely finding a "deal" resulted in me not played here in around 25 years. Did not remember much about the excellent layout, but it is both fun and challenging. The playing conditions were very playable. The tees had decent coverage and were mostly well maintained. The fairways were mostly poa, are firm and were winter thin. The combination of firm and thin produced some long drives. The rough is lush, several inches deep and thick. Lost ball rough unless you are right on top of it. Using anything more than a short iron out of some of the questionable lies was a recipe for disaster. The sand was nicely maintained with fine grain sand. However, the bunkers I was in/around had way too many rocks in them to be considered good. The large, undulating green complexes are challenging. VERY firm, they were smooth and putted medium fast. This course would be really challenging to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. No drink cart out, the Marshall was out patrolling. No GPS on the basic carts. All grass driving range was a +. Definitely recommended.
Excellent Challenge for MID to LOW Handicappers!
Do not suggest for beginners.
Great layout Tee to Greens. Every hole poses interesting strategy and greens make this a thriller.
Plays longer than the card. Sloping fairways force management off the tee.
Warm up and Practice facilities are extremely well maintained.
This is a well managed course by owners/staff that have a passion for the game.
Highly recommend this course if you are in the area.
Short drive from Palm Springs and a different experience from the Desert Courses.
Clubhouse is fair, not a place to shop or eat.
Great track
Love this course. Great track and a good change from desert golf courses. Tough and you need to manage your game. Greens are undulating and tricky. Will play here whoever I can.
Golf Course
Excellent Track and we love it. We are Snowbirds and this our preferred course to play.
