Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Great layout that needs some TLC
I have not played this course in over a year. I got a great deal on GolfNow.com, but "you get what you paid for". The greens and surrounding areas were in good condition, but the rest of the course has gotten away from the superintendents. The course layout is awesome; there is so much potential. I unfortunately will not be coming back because it is too far from home to play a course that has as many weeds in the fairways as grass.
Great course challenging experience
Tee off 6:40 am, open fairways, little windy different areas but wide fairways to compensate for wind. Back 9 challenging with rolling hills, bunkers and water. We had a great time, plan on going again in near future.
...enjoyable...
...the course a bit of a challenge for me as an old guy...but we enjoyed the layout and the greens were a challenge with little rolls and nuances...especially around the hole it seemed...quite fast...windy on the high tees...a good value...
The course has a great layout . Tuff greens perty fast.fairways were great!. I had a great time!!!
Great Course!!!
A very challenging golf course. The greens were rolling nice.
Used to be so much better
I use golf advisor and golfnow all the time to help with info on courses I haven't played, so I like informative and useful reviews. I have played Oak Valley a few times in the past, but not in the last 5-8 years. It used to be a favorite when I was in the area because of layout and condition. The layout is still good, it's a fun and (can be) challenging course, but you can tell they don't put much money into the course. They've done away with a number of bunkers, the condition was poor/fair at best, pace of play was one of the worst I have ever experienced (5.5 hours as a threesome. 16th hole had 4 groups on it at once) no beverage cart, no one in golf shop other than guy at the register, the golf carts are the equivalent of a 1985 ford escort. Cracked and torn seats, rattles and loose parts etc...I had to switch carts at the turn because I didn't think the first one would make it another 9. I was looking forward to playing here again but in reality it's on the level of a poorly maintained muni course. The staff that was there was friendly and courteous, and the greens were decent and good speed (albeit very bumpy) and those are really the only positives I can say. I'm a little puzzled at all the good reviews. I am a 9 hdcp and played from the whites and should have played blues. Kind of hurts me to ding this place because I used to really enjoy it, but it just isn't very nice any longer
Play here at least once a month
Great course, easy from the Whites. More challenging from the Blues. Will continue play here until my body gives out
Great place to play a weekend round.
My two friends and I had an 8:56 am tee time. We arrived at the course and found out there was a frost delay until 9 am. Luckily there were only two groups of four waiting to tee off. No problem at all, went to the restaurant and had an excellent breakfast burrito. At approximately 9:30 AM, our group of three teed off with not a golfer in sight. Had a great time playing at Oak Valley for the first time. Course conditions were as to be expected for the winter months with fairways dormant. However the greens were in excellent condition and rolled true all day. Course layout was fun, challenging and would definitely return for a second time to play some shots differently. All in all a good experience and would definitely recommend someone to play this course.
Oak Valley is in excellent condition!
First is the speed of the greens, fastest around and pretty pure... The only problem is that they are a bit hard. Fairways are very good and the bunkers are all well maintained. Two of par 3 blue tee areas are terribly overused, but now I'm just being picky! I give this course is a solid 4 stars!
Very challenging layout
We enjoyed the day of golf and the pace of play. Not one negative to report. Look forward to returning. We drive 50 miles one way to play, passing scores of outher fine couses
Not the Same
Been playing Oak Valley from day one and course is just whisper of what it once was....layout is the same and is very good challenge. Course condition is not anything like in the past...still have a few really good holes (fairway to green) but to many are not over seeded enough to be playing on anything more then dormant Bermuda. Looks like the were very selective in their over seeding this year, tee box"s and around greens but very little fairway. Price is to high for condition of course...with courses closed all over Inland Empire you would think Oak Valley would try to stand out, Courses across the freeway (Morongo) has done a much better job and cost less to play.
Great features. Love the greens
Everything was great except for very slow play and no marshals. Over seed did not work. You can loose your ball in the middle of the fairways because of the dormant barmuda (grey/brown)
Dry fairways, sweet greens
Great course, dry fairways, green rough, fast greens. Sand ok. Users need to take traps and fix at least two divots on greens. Beverage cart would be nice.
Great course
I had a really fun to play here at 2018 New Year’s Day. Nobody in front of us which is really great. I’m Not sure this course is always like that or not. In My opinion front 9 is more fun than back 9. Doesn’t mean back 9 is bad. 16, 17, 18 holes are very beautiful. Don’t buy a Hot dog. Overall $36 for hotdeal I will definitely play again here soon.
He course
Love the course. Bunkers were an issue. No sand or bedrock. Not good
.
Disappointing
I've always considered this course as one of my favorites in the Inland Empire. Haven't played it, cause it's pricey.
I was very disappointed in the condition of the course. A lot of dry spots. The rough was really rough only because it wasn't taken care of.
Don't know if they are having money problems, but they told me they were booked for the day and it was the 2 or 3rd time I called to play but were booked.
I am really sad that they are letting the course gol
Agree, if your expecting any thing like courses in Palm Springs area this time of year forget it.
