Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Great day!
I have only played this course a few times as it's not that close to our house however it is definitely worth the drive. The staff is always so friendly and so welcoming. Even the food is great in the restaurant. Always an enjoyable round.
Very Nice
Super summer conditions keep me coming back! The fairways are tight and lush. The greens a consistent speed. Five sets of tee boxes make it playable for everyone. Golf Now!
Challenging layout in great condition
Played the course for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. Staff picked up my clubs at the truck and they were waiting by the practice green. Pro shop staff was awesome and they didn't make me feel like I was a hindrance for their time or give me that cocky "I think I'm better than you" attitude I've received at many clubhouses. Picked up a local craft beer, Hangar 24 Orange Wheat, at the restaurant and it was time to hit the course.
Overall the course was excellent. Tee box conditions were great. Fairways were excellent and even with drought conditions, there were only a few noticeable brown spots. Even then, the grass was still good and didn't effect the lie. I'd attribute the spots to the August heat and not the greens keeper. Greens rolled beautifully with just the right amount of speed.
Pace of play was a non-factor as traffic was light and I was able to finish in 3.5 hrs. That's kind of surprising considering how nice the course is and it being the weekend. The course is challenging. Rolling fairways, elevation changes, and well placed (not diabolical) hazards will test your shot selection, but they don't take away any of the fun factor. If you hit outside of the fairways, which are ample size, recovery is near impossible due to local foliage. Bunkers were combed and soft (yeah I found a couple). Water hazards looked low, but it was to be expected.
General thoughts - Great value for such a course. $60 on a weekend is a very good price. I've played comparable courses in Vegas, Bear's Best and Vegas National, and shelled out lots more for courses in the same condition with comparable layouts. There was drinking water available on just about every hole, but there was no refreshment cart roaming the course so plan accordingly.
Bottom Line - I'll definitely play this course again.
Oak Valley is Immaculate
For mid-summer So. Cal golf you will not find a better shape course anywhere. The fairways are lush and tight. The greens are smooth and fast, I'd say about a 10-11 which is awesome for summer. So do not hesitate to play this gem, you will have a great experience, just make sure to ice up at the cart barn. All carts come with a ice chest. Yes it has been hot, but its' always cooler on the course and most often the afternoon breeze is nice.
Nothing special
It was fun and a nice course. However for the price there are lots of other fun and nicer courses in the area for far less. Even though we got the tee time in sale still wouldn't go back.
Great Layout - But Isn't What It Used To Be
I love the layout and the challenge of this course. It is one of the toughest courses in the inland empire. However, it seems that the ownership isn't spending the money necessary to keep this course in the condition that it once was. While the conditions are still 3 to 4 stars, here are the areas that need to be addressed. First, the sand traps are very inconsistent. Some are very playable with a nice 2+ inches of sand. However some are hard and crusty with rock hard dirt just 1/2 inch under the top. This makes it impossible to play an standard explosion sand shot from the greenside bunkers. Second, the tees are showing the signs of wear and tear. Way too many divots and uneven areas. Third, the greens that were once hard, fast, and rolled true and now hard, relatively slow, and do not roll true. What happened? I also saw dozens (maybe hundreds) of unrepaired ball marks on the greens, several broken rakes in the sand traps, and the drinking water on the course was warm (and it was only 2 pm). Owners - please spend some money to bring this course back to what it once was!
Awesome
Always wanted to play here as I've seen it off the freeway. But weekend tee times are about 100 bucks. Found a $35 tee time and well worth it. By far the best course in the inland empire!!! Definitely going back
Worth the money!
Have played many times, fairways are in great shape and the greens are almost perfect with being punched a few weeks backs. It's the best time to plays this course get out there now!
Great Golf
Oak Valley is one of my favorite courses to play in the Area i guess it is mainly because something special always seems to happen for my game here and i did'nt have to wait long this round with a sweet birdie on the first hole from that point on it seat the tone for my round had a fun solid round that went by much to fast, this is a fun course that is a pleasure to play everytime even with the greens recently punched and sanded which the starter mentioned upon my check in i played my round by myself and did'nt even seem to mind just got a little more exercise than normally would love this course oh I already mentioned that, If you hav'nt played oakValley yet you should you will have a nice day of golf too!!!
Love the Course
As usual this course was in great shape. Fron tee to green there are no flaws. Getting the $45 twlight rate makes you want to play it again.
Amazing course
Fantastic layout. Great mix of holes. Could play here every day.
Sweet
Really enjoy playing this course! Just love the layout. It's pretty challenging, greens are fast which suits me fine. The play was pretty slow for during the week, but it was well worth it. That is the 1st time during the week that I experienced slow play! Awesome view of the San Bernardino mountains. One of my favorite course to play! You won't be disappointed! I'll keep coming back for sure!
So,so Sad!!
This golf course has fallen off from what it once was!! Fairways not kept up, very few staff personal around the club house, maintenance staff seemed to be hiding out on the back nine!! Please!! someone buy this course and put money back into!!
Dry fairways
Course needs water. Some trps need work. Greens very hard.
Worth the dollar
I have played this course over a dozen times. I have never been disappointed with the condition of the course. The price is right.
Good layout, fast greens
This was my first time at Oak Valley. I really liked the course layout. Many holes had undulating fairways. You need to think about tee shot placements and distances before you just pull your driver and try to wham it. The greens were in good shape but fast. Fairways and tee boxes certainly showed the effects of the water drought in SoCal. Even so, this was a fun course to play and will do so again. BTW, if you're a bit erratic, bring a few extra golf balls.
Not in very good shape'
I've played this course many times in the past and always enjoyed it, however, apparently they decided to save some money and not oversees this year, big mistake! The fairways are very spotty, not good at all, the greens were fine, still, I like the course layout, so although it's not it's usual pristine condition, it's still a great tract to play.
Overall happy
First time here. The driving range is very sandy, difficult to hit clean shot and keep you footing? that would be my only complaint. Course is in good condition for this time of year. Greens were fast and true. Really enjoyed putting on them. Cart girl Sara is awesome and easy on the eyes. I would recommend this course to friends.
Not Right Now
I've played this course many times over the year and it is like a dog track right now.
I was told they chose not to oversee this year, so everything is dead. Other then the greens.
The greens are still great.
Give it another couple of months of good weather and it should be fine again.
Oak Valley
Great looking course in great condition, with fast greens.
